I may enter the gaf thread to laugh at something here or there, but overall I don't read the thread. I may post every 4-5 pages.

Surprise, there are dumb people on GAF. How that concept spawns a never ending 300 page thread here, every year, is baffling. This isn't 2006 anymore, we have our own identity.

Most are from GAF but we've created our own forum personality. Back in 2006/2007 there was a lot of GAF type shit, mixed with ugly flaming. But since then we've chilled down, and nearly everyone is cool with each other. Even Methodis became tolerable to an extent. You rarely see any redemption or changed ways on bigger forums, at least in my experience; assholes become bigger assholes as their audience grows. But here a troll can't really flourish (see: Makaveli) so they're left with the options of either leaving or becoming a member of the community.

It's fun to point and laugh. Every other splinter forum I've posted at has a similar gossip thread, some several about related forums as well, so it doesn't seem strange to me. Maybe I'm just shameless. 
That said it is unfortunate that some people only or mainly post there.

REAL TALK: We NEVER talk about exclusively gaf in the gaf thread and the posters that do and take it fucking seriously (like momo when he first came) are usually systematically flogged. Right now in the gaf thread we are talking about Monster fucking Hunter. No one CARES about gaf nearly as much on this site that people think we do. The reason the gaf thread is so huge is because we go off topic and discuss something that has nothing to do with gaf for like two pages.

This forum got started when Willco/MAF/Drinky were waging a really embarrassing troll jihad on GAF.  I waited a week or so to register cause it really looked like the whole forum was just going to be a larger version of the GAF thread.

Forum's turned out nice, and I'm glad we've got that shit quarantined.  It's a splinter forum and people are gonna want to blow off steam.  If you get invested in a virtual space it's natural to hang on too long and bitch about how things used to be better.  After a while though, if you're still doing it then it's probably from the thrill of watching Jerry Springer or reading WorldNetDaily: rustling your jimmies a bit and getting that warm afterglow of superiority.

Some folks here are too smart to be wasting all their time on it, yet keep after it every damn day.  Not naming names, but if I did I'd name Cowbell.

Himu, all threads here go off topic.  GAF thread's only an outlier in how giant it is, not in the range of conversation.  First person to find 2 consecutive pages with no links to neogaf in that thread gets a Mandark No-Prize.

I'm torn.  Lord knows, I've always been one to drop the gloves and have it out, interwebs-style, but at the same time, I rather like the chill thing we have going on lately.  (also, I believe the whole "no longer being a college student or recent grad who has tons of free time to waste arguing on the internet-thing has a lot to do with that.  Also probably why I don't post on GAF much anymore.  Any "big discussion" is already on page 127 by the time I see it, and there's no way to contribute to it unless you're living on the forum.)

In spite of all our disagreements, I've usually found Boogie to be a pretty likable guy.

Actually, that's what's really funny to me.  A lot of the regulars here whom I am totally cool with now (Mandark, Triumph, Drinky, MAF, etc.) are all guys who, in my early days on GAF (and here), I couldn't stand and thought were pricks.   (I mean, you all totally *are* pricks, but you know  )  Sheeit, I'm pretty sure I originally coined "Seattle Shat Pack", and it wasn't intended ironically.     Strange how things turn out.
