If Staley's injury is serious, the Niners season is pretty much done.

Like many fans, referee Terry McAulay is used to Reid being with the Eagles. After Reid successfully challenged a spot in the third quarter, McAulay announced, "Philadelphia will not be charged a timeout."

Must go find youtube of this.

I was up north picking apples and drinking beer in a cellular deadzone, so I only got to see the 4th quarter and OT of the Seattle-Houston game.

Sounds like Houston dominated the first 3 quarters, but then they fucked up and Seattle steamrolled them in the end.

I totally forgot to set my lineup, my daughter got incredibly sick last week and wasn't better until late Saturday night, and FF was the last thing on my mind. Figured I'd get slaughtered in all three of leagues.

Seahawks couldn't score on the Texans D and then Schaub threw the game away on a pick 6

Yep, we got outplayed for three quarters and then took advantage of Houston falling apart in the 4th and OT. I'll take an ugly win.

That 97 yard run for an offensive TD in the 4th was pretty sweet, though.

Does that really seem like a bad match up at this point?  Both are better teams than we thought they'd be and it'll probably be a good game.

I'd imagine the original thought process was that it would be CJ Spiller v Trent Richardson. Not a completely bad idea IMO, and while Trent is gone now...both teams aren't as bad as they seemed a couple weeks ago.

From a football fan perspective, they are two teams that have no stars, no past and no intrigue. There are no former players playing against their old teams, or old coaches coaching against their old teams. Just two overacheiving, average teams from different divisions playing a game.

It would be akin to having Carolina and Arizona playing. WGAF?

Especially when you have games like Seattle/Colts, Packers/Lions or Pats/Bengals all popping off on Sunday at 1pm.

There are 16 NFL games scheduled on Thursdays (13 TNF games on NFL Network plus the three on Thanksgiving).  For health and competitive reasons, the league won't schedule any teams for multiple Thursday games, so each team will play exactly once.

The Pats already played the Jets on a Thursday, the second Packers/Lions game is on Thanksgiving, the Colts have a TNF game against the Titans later, etc.  Under this system, you're necessarily going to have some stinkers, or at least less glamorous matchups.

That's kind of by design, though- they have access to flex scheduling for a lot of their games, right?  So, they can choose who on the schedule is the best looking game and bump it to Sunday night.  M/T have to schedule in advance.

Granted I would have never guessed we'd be 3-1 at this point, I still don't think this is a playoff team. A lot hinges on today's game in my mind, win or lose. If we drop another dud at Lambeau, kill ourselves with penalties, and Stafford continues to not impress*...this will be a bad season. But if we can put together 60 minutes of solid play and pressure Rodgers who knows. He's going to dice our secondary, so the d-line has to keep him off his game. Suh is having a defensive POTY season thus far, I'm sure it'll continue on Sunday but we can't afford stupid penalties.

Calvin Johnson is inactive today due to a knee injury. Guess we can throw away any thoughts of this being an important game to gauge whether Detroit is good or not.

I would like to see Kaepernick make a touch throw or something other than trying to dart it in at someone and watching nothing come of it. He is just a one read QB right now. Even if the Niners had an extra WR to throw to, I am not sure Kaep would find him.
