I'm fine with the faked punt. It's the type of play that makes you look like a genius if it works, and a fool if it doesn't. But the reason you have the balls to try that is because you trust your defense to get you the ball back. We barely pressured Rothlesburger all game, but I figured we could stop stop them. Instead they march 100yds down the field and score/take the lead.

Followed by our offense completely unraveling. Staffard had all the time in the world, our o-line dominated the Steelers for nearly the entire game. Yet he could complete a second half pass to save his life. I can't stand our coach, but I'll defend his call. He had faith in our defense stopping an ugly Steelers offense, and our offense dicing a questionable Steelers defense. Neither happened in that second quarter.

Arizona won today, thus complicating our playoffs chances. We need Lord Brady to destroy Carolina tomorrow night....

Stafford is NOT an elite QB, the discussion has ended. He's way too inaccurate.

Good, solid victory for my boys. Percy looked great in limited play, can't wait for him to be used on a more regular basis.

I'd love for the Panthers to win just to drive New England fans insane.

Yup. It's like any big hit on a relevant QB will get that call. Brees was clearly hit in the shoulder, but the velocity of the hit made it look worse (ie like a head shot). The refs took extra time and STILL got it wrong.

I hate people bitching about the refs. Maybe you should be good enough to not need close calls to go your way to win.

And fuck Brady, I almost lost my match because of that INT.

Also fuck New England, we will NEVER hear the end of this call. I still hear people from Wisconsin rage about Golden Tate and Redskins fans whine about us "pumping in artificial noise." Fuck it all get it over it.

....getting screwed by a bad call sucks period. Obviously you guys benefited from one of the worst calls in modern NFL history but I can't imagine being fine with losing under those circumstances. Especially this year with the playoff race so close.

I'm no Pats fan, I was cheering for them due to a Carolina loss making the Lions playoffs position more secure. But still, that was shitty.

thats cowardly talk

Fans have to hold refs accountable. At least the NFL as a league normally holds a ref accountable. You could have the NBA where the league just lets the refs do whatever they want.

I agree with holding refs accountable, but that is a very different thing from people whining incessantly online for years about bad calls.

"Oh your team won the Super Bowl? So what, you won because of the refs. If my team didn't get screwed by them during week eight of the regular season we would've won so my team is better." That's what I'm talking about it.

The only thing about the Ahmad Brooks call that I care to comment on is that it's the sort of call/controversy that will lead to yet another "clarification" in the rules during the off-season. They'll just add shoulders as a no-no, even though its a common hit for every other position. Things will get progressively more complex and messy. Sort of like how oddball the catching a pass out of bounds rule is now. They need to streamline rules and make them follow a consistent logic.

Better yet they need to train a new crop of refs for a year or two. These current refs look lost multiple times a game, and end up making or missing bad calls - then trying to make up for it with other bad calls.

Gronk was held as clear as day on that last play. They threw the flag, picked it back up, and gave a half assed explanation thus ending quite an important game. No fan should be ok with that, given the implications it could have on your own team in the future.

And that Brees hit...I feel bad for defenses. You can't touch a WR, and if you hit a QB too hard or if he falls hard, it's an insta flag. Especially if the target is Brees/Brady/Rodgers/Manning.

Lions should be 8-4 by next Sunday. Anything less is a failure. Today we play a bad Tampa team, and on Thanksgiving we play a beat up GB team. No excuse not to win both games and continue marching towards a playoffs spot.

And yet, I'm nervous. After last week's debacle, especially the second half where Stafford went like 3 of 18...he has to be better. I was excited after his amazing performance in the Dallas game, it's time for him to step the fuck up. I don't think he'll be "elite" due to his inherent inaccuracy, but having Calvin should ensure very solid performances weekly.

sums it up

Lions were handed the division and a playoffs spot on a silver fucking platter, and fucked it up. Obviously we can still accomplish both, but it got twice as hard after today. This was one of the few "gimme" games on the fucking schedule.

A bad secondary and an inaccurate Stafford are fucking us.  I have lost all confidence in him, after gaining so much after the Dallas game.

This offense looks inefficient and downright ugly in the second half of games.

Great performance by Brady although he didn't do much at the end.  Peyton seemingly underperformed in yet another big game.

Still, Denver should be the heavy favorite if they meet again in the playoffs, which would most likely be in Denver.

Manning and Brees will dominate in domes but if they play outside in bad weather...other teams have a chance.

Brady brought his team back and won the game, great performance. He only has a couple consistent targets which makes it even more impressive. Goes back to one of my Stafford complaints: great QBs make other players great. Manning puts no name receivers in positions to make huge plays, same with Brady. You shouldn't have to rely on FA signings and trades. Stafford's mechanics seem tuned towards throwing passes at someone with a 6'10 wingspan, who happens to be the best player in the league. So his passes sail on smaller receivers, he constantly misses down field throws, etc. If not for Reggie Bush we'd be fucked, teams would just blanket Megatron and dare Stafford to beat them elsewhere. Which happened last year and led to a shitty season.
