Lions up 8-0 at the half. Philly seems to finally be getting used to the conditions on offense running the ball, but I think Foles is going to struggle.

Geez, that was heartbreaking. The field mic picked up Gronk screaming "medic" and "shit, again?" in an agonized voice.

It's legal but shitty. Ward is an undersized guy, so the ony chance he has of getting Gronk off his feet is by taking them out. He just happened to do it right when. Gronkowski put all his weight on that one leg.

It's the exact kind of play people were saying would happen when they took away head shots.

The roughing the passer that set up that TD was even more egregious.

Ultimately we're losing due to not being able to stop the run, at fucking all. This is shocking me right now. Everyone knows both teams have to run in this weather, how the fuck are they getting 10 yards a carry right now. Jesus....

That's how all the Browns games should be this year. Entertaining as hell, but end in a loss.

Shame we're wasting Josh Gordon's best years of his career.

the 1pm games all gave me a heart attack other than the Redskins game.

- Steelers nearly win on a miracle "band is on the field" like play
- Vikings and Ravens trade crazy touchdowns like three times in the last 3 minutes
- Patriots come back despite a :dead Gronk
- Packers win due to a last second interception despite a lolworthy performance from Flynn
- Lions and Eagles have arguably the best snow game in the last decade

but seriously, fuck the:

- Dolphins
- Patriots
- Vikings
- Colts
- Steelers
- NFL
- life that I'm living

I was driving back from Portland yesterday during the Sea-SF game, so I only got to listen to it. Sounds like a tough grind 'em out game where we made some mistakes at the end. Would've loved to win, but I had a feeling it might end this way.

Gotta get ready for the Giants now.

"We didn't project it to be this way," Sherman said, according to the 49ers' official website. "We expected to blow them out, but they got the benefit of a few calls tonight throughout the game and that helps you, especially on third down. We will see them again, and it will be a different result."

Translation: It's a lot harder for us when they actually call defensive holding.

I stand by that post actually. Seattle gave up a big play they normally don't give up, and they lost because of it.

At the end of the day, the NFC has to go through Seattle at home. I'm not a fan of theirs obviously, but I really can't see them NOT making the Superbowl at this point.

The Niners were in control of that game most of the way. It was close because Seattle's D did a great job in the red zone. Gore's big run was  huge, but the Niners had driven into field goal range many times that game. They also had plenty of time left to drive the whole field when they got the ball on that final drive. Gore broke off the run, but they just drained about 6 minutes of clock despite the huge run doing most of the yardage work. It was ultra conservative.

Which is why I don't think they'll ever win in Seattle until Greg Roman is gone.

« Reply #686 on: December 09, 2013, 03:22:59 PM »
I really wonder if Gore would've run into the endzone or taken a knee on the 1-yard line if he wasn't tackled. Would've been way too much time to give the ball back to Seattle.

but then again I kind of want the Lions to lose the rest of their games to ensure this coaching staff gets fired. We don't deserve to go to the playoffs.

hmmm what happened the last time someone talked shit to Calvin Johnson?

:yeshrug

But he does bring up something. Megatron is 28, which isn't "old" but he certainly is at the peak of his career. It's a god damn shame he's wasted it on such a sorry team/organization. Some people here are still mad at Barry Sanders for retiring so early but honestly, I understand why he did it. I kind of want us to miss the playoffs just so we can fire Schwartz.

How do you start off 6-3, then end up 7-6 after losing to a couple bad teams? Rodgers, dead. Cutler, dead. Yet we can't wrap up the division. Sure we're leading the division, but Chicago has awoken and Rodgers might be back in a couple weeks.

Megatron still has at least 2-3 more years of insane production left in him, and I expect him to be a really good receiver for years after that. It does suck that he's stuck on the Lions, but then again Marino was stuck on the Dolphins for forever, and like you said- Sanders was stuck on shittier Lions teams.

I don't understand why dude would want to try to fuck with Megatron, tho.  smh

Oh definitely, he still has more than a few great seasons left. People forget just how dominant Jerry Rice was over a consistent period of time. Megatron is bigger and stronger and benefits from easier rules, so I think he'll continue to do well.

We have so many good pieces, they just haven't been taken advantage of, and the playcalling continues to be puzzling. I'm not one of those "throw it to Calvin all day" guys...but last Sunday, in the snow, with defenders unable to see/tackle well...throw it to Calvin all day. Yet we only threw to him 5 times. I just don't get it.

Minnesota is playing very well without AP. Makes the Lions loss to Philly look even worse...

speaking of which, Chicago's in a tight game with Cleveland. If the Bears win and we lose tomorrow night, we'll lose control of the NFC North. A truly amazing turn of events given that Cutler and Rodgers were basically dead for the last 4-5 weeks.
