Also fired: Shanahan, Leslie Frazier, Schiano, and apparently the Browns are still an NFL team and fired someone who was allegedly their coach

Jason Garrett and Rob Ryan appear to be safe at this point

The Browns organization is a joke. If it weren't for Michael Jordan, it would have to be one of the worst sports franchises in America.

Watch them hire Schwartz or some college coach du jour.

Not that Chudwhatever probably wasn't awful, but let's be real- how the fuck can you expect to do much better than 4-12 when you're the Browns and trade away your best player?  They need to put in a GM with a track record, have him hand pick his coach, and give them like 4-5 years to figure something out. This isn't like the 4-12 years the Eagles had last year- the Browns DON'T have good pieces on their team to build around.

The Browns didn't trade away their 'best player', that would be Josh Gordon.

Hell, it's debateable weather Richardson was even the best running back they had on roster (Ogbonnoya has more versatility).

But yea, it was shitty what they did to Chud, but he was never their first choice. They wanted a 'premier coach' last year and got turned down by all the usual suspects. So, they were 'under the gun' and settled on Chud. With some factions of management really pushing for Josh McDaniels.

The irony of course is they probably can't even woo McDaniels this off-season because he has restored his reputation and better franchises need a coach.

Good way to put this farce of a season behind us.

I liked everything that was said today at the presser. Basically the culture needs to change, it's not just about game plans or schemes. You can't win if you turn the ball over and constantly get penalties. We killed ourselves all season with that shit, and it never got better. That's on coaching. You could tell Schwartz didn't care to address that shit, and his personality rubbed off on the team. Think back to his freak out over Harbaugh slapping him on the back...dude is a fucking joke.

Another thing: if Stafford doesn't improve, we're gonna be fucked for a long time, and waste Megatron's prime. I look at Andrew Luck, Russell, Wilson, and even Cam Newton...they have all surpassed him over the last couple years in multiple ways. His completion rate on passes over 10yds is atrocious, his foot work is bad, his mechanics are bad, etc. And he's on record saying he doesn't need help fixing his game. That's a problem. We need a coach who can fix this shit, or nothing else matters.

Grats to the Packers fans.

Having watched Stafford at GA, I can give you some small hope: if he has a prime offensive line protecting him, dude will be fine. Once he starts getting hurried, knocked down and sacked a lot, he goes to shit.

The good news is, Detroit is hands down THE BEST coaching vacancy open right now. The only other team that could be ready to contend soon is Texas, and they have more issues. So, you should have your pick of coaches.

Stafford was inaccurate in college too though. Dunno, if we can fix his mechanics he can be good. Obviously 2011 was a great year for him, in which he looked elite.

He's a Favre type gunslinger, that mentality will probably never change. But if his footwork can be addressed, at least he'll become a slightly more accurate gunslinger.

A great coach and another good draft could definitely catapult us to the top. We'll see.

Bill Caldwell and Lovie Smith are getting interviews apparently. The shitty thing is that the most appealing candidate (Whisenhunt) is with a playoff team right now, so we'd have to wait until January 12th to contact him. I'm not sure we can wait that long, assuming good candidates start disappearing.

Lovie Smith is almost certainly going to Tampa Bay.

Kind of sad about Schiano. I thought his practice of attacking the offense on kneel downs was the greatest thing in football this year and needs to become standard practice.

That's awesome. I hate kneel downs.

So Kaepernick is like 10-0 and 11-0 when he passes for over 150 yards or has over 55% completion. Those are really low standards for a perfect win %.

I actually think the national media's most hated match up would be Carolina v San Diego.
