Hang on I have a candidate for worst: Scotland. Black pudding is kind of nice but what's in it doesn't sit well with me.

Yeah. Maybe I'll phrase it like this: if you could only eat one for the rest of your life, what would it be?

I'm tempted to go with Italian as I can't really be doing without pizza.

Russia has been real hit or miss for me. There's some Russian foods that I love, but at the same time, I've had some really bland dishes from Russian restaurants.

Middle America has some really bland food. Both my grandparents are from the central part of NA, and they cooked some of the blandest food I've known.

I am sure someone will come in and tell you Hong Kong is the food mecca. Southeast Asia also has the same sort of port town combo of culinary styles. Your Mediterranean line of France, Italy, Greece and Spain is all pretty much international staples by now.

Probably Chinese or Indian. Most people just eat the same greasy Americanized Chinese but I've had all kinds of different dishes from each region thanks to friends families. Indian has such a vast range of spices utilized. God damn.

WERD.

Japan has the best food.

No land, no personal freedom, difficult personal expression, low birth rate, and bureaucracy out the wazoo, but plenty of great food everywhere.

France, obviously.

What do French people actually eat? I know it can't be all baguettes and escargot.

A lot of julia child recipes are based off French cooking.

I had shepherd's pie. It was good. Although I don't think I'll bother to try jellied eels. Looks awful.

Asking what country has the best food is like asking for a favorite color.  There is a right color for every situation.

Also wtf isn't there any pictures in this thread holy shit people.

Even in this day and age you can't get most regional cuisines everywhere.  That and most ethnic foods are butchered and bastardized to all hell to appeal to target markets.  It's hard to say what is best when most people haven't tried a lot of food they way they were meant to be eaten.

You don't have to spice everything so heavily if you make it yourself, as long as you keep the flavour.

People where always raving about fish in Goa though, I tried it in many places and it was always meh.

I agree but you don't need to make a lot of it, know what I mean? :)

If you make a good masala it will complement whatever you are eating it with too. Ofc this works best with strong meats like lamb.

My fiance made some wicked masala this week man :drool It's the only Indian dish we know how to make cause we took a cooking course in India (well we know how to make chapatti too)

If I had to go with just one type of kitchen for the rest of my life, I'd go with Italy. Fantastic ingredients, great herbs, overall very varied food, can be both quick or long elaborated meals, stuff for just sitting outside living the good life like antipasti and wine but also comfort food for winter and shitty weather, great desserts, coffee culture, great meat, fish or vegetable dishes... Italy has it all.
