SO.....I'm hearing good things about this HTC One.  Anybody have any experience with the UltraPixel camera (I take a lot of pictures for work)?

I actually did order a new battery.  Even with Amazon Prime it won't get here till Tuesday. 

BUT JUST IN CASE it's not the battery I want to have my bases covered.  Also, while I was at the store to see if they sold batteries (they don't) I was checking out the new phones and it's definitely tempting.

If the batteries don't work, I'm getting a new phone.  That's my plan.

Use the HTC One for work, its a brilliant phone, absolutely the best Android phone I've used.  Only issue unfortunately is that the camera isn't as good as some other android phones.

I really love my iPhone 5 and think it's a great phone... That said, you should probably get the HTC One. If I wasn't ass-deep in Apple apps right now, I would've jumped ship as soon as that shit dropped.

Alternatively, if you don't mind missing out on the One's gorgeous screen, I hear good things about the Moto X!

One of us ONE of us HTC one of us! Join us, it really is fantastic to use. Android is great and freeing compared to iphone/blackberry/winmo.

I don't know what BrandNew is talking about, the camera on the One is awesome! Just make sure you take time to focus on what you want in the shots, the camera does the rest and very well.

The One is great, but if you want a phone for its battery, you should look at the Moto X. The 10 MP ClearPixel camera also compares favorably to the One's, although neither is really as good as that crazy Lumia cameraphone or even the iPhone 5.

That amoled display and some of those sub processors in the moto x are freaking awesome. Sadly its lower res than my current phone, but I've played with the idea of getting one for work stuff. I hope all phones in the future have those sub processors built into them. There's so much cool shit you can do with the moto x cause of it.

If the most important thing is the camera, then the Lumia 1020 is the best choice but you'd have to switch to the Windows Phone OS. On Android, the HTC One offers the best pictures in low-light conditions with the tradeoff that you have a max res of 4MP.

The Moto X was just revealed and it looks really hot. Basically it has a ton of aesthetic customization options (~500 combinations), a specifically decent in low-light conditions 10MP camera, really innovative software that is always paying attention to what you're saying/doing (even when locked) in case you command it to do something, and on top of that it has apparently like twice the real world battery life of the HTC One and Galaxy S4 due to more efficient (but less powerful overall) processors and because it has a 720P screen rather than 1080P. The only real downside to the phone is that carriers besides AT&T aren't ready to let you order versions that are customized. So if you're not on AT&T, you're stuck with either black or white for who knows how long.

And it's the first smartphone assembled in the US, which you can show off to your Chinese friends. The bamboo version isn't going to be available for a couple months I think.

The Moto X has zero performance issues. With Motorola’s X8 Mobile Computing System paired up with the dual-core Snapdragon S4 Pro processor, it’s clear that the entire system has been fine-tuned to be smooth as butter. It’s a bit of a downer that Motorola didn’t use the quad-core Snapdragon 600 that the rest of the world has taken too this year, but this is where we sit. I think the takeaway here, is that mobile processors are probably not being fully taken advantage of if a dual-core chipset can run this good. In fact, (and not to bring up benchmarks again), if you run any of the GPU tests, you’ll find that the Moto X outperforms its biggest competitors. Part of that has to do with the lower resolution display, but some credit should also be given to Motorola.

Things like accessing Google Now with a swipe up from Home happen instantly, multi-tasking between apps doesn’t hiccup, the camera launches quickly, and the phone never seems to get hot.

I ran through a series of test photos today with the Moto X on a tripod (hope to post them soon), comparing it to shots taken with the Galaxy S4 and HTC One, and it came away as a success. I would say that the Galaxy S4 slightly bests the Moto X in terms of detail and overall image quality in good light, but the Moto X crushed it in low-light performance and was step-for-step with it in other situations. Well, aside from some weird discoloration that showed up every couple of low-light shots (see below). I also found that the Moto X outperformed the HTC One camera in almost every situation, but that could be due to the One’s low-resolution camera.

Phone never seems to get hot? Hnnnnnnnnnnngg.

I could fry an egg on my GN 4G when using Chrome or LTE.

It uses a dual core processor and 720p display, which most people have labelled as mid-range. But the trade-off is better battery life, and its GPU is still top-of-the-line. Most reviews note that its performance can stand with the best of them.

Well let me clarify: camera is important but there are other things I'm looking for.  I use my phone a lot for work: email/calls/text, scheduling, maps, research, photos, ...etc.  It really is my out of office work station.

Well, lookie what we've got here - when sized up with current handsets, the Moto X turns out to be with one of the best phone-to-screen-size ratios we've ever seen, upwards of 70% in our quick calculations. Granted, at its thickest it can be considered chubby compared to the Android anorexics, but this is due to the arched shape of the back, which slopes down to the razor thin 5.6 mm at the ends for the thinnest top and bottom edges so far.

In fact, the Moto X is not only shorter and narrower than the 5-inchers - its shrunken bezel makes it with less frontal surface than the fellow 4.7-inchers, like the Nexus 4, or the Ascend P6. In fact it is shorter, and only slightly wider than the 4.3" HTC One mini, which, of course, had to fit those BoomSound speakers somewhere.

We just got some hands-on with the LG's new flagship, the G2. It's a phone that has everything going for it, except for the using it part.

The software is a nightmare. Especially after using Motorola's super clean, attractive, and intuitive software on the Moto X (which is basically just stock Android), this is like a developer got all hyped up on Jolt Cola and went nuts. It's not unlike Samsung's TouchWiz in that it's extremely busy and packed to the brim with features no one will never use. But it's worse. It's significantly uglier, with icons that look like something off a feature phone from ten years ago. And the useless features are even more useless. Haven't you always wanted to simply knock on your phone like it was a door in order to turn the screen on? No, you bloody well haven't.

Pretty much every app is on iOS, making it the default winner.

The big appeal of Android to me was the drag and drop interface, but to be honest with things like spotify and unlimited 3g internet you really don't need to use that feature ever.

You have Nokia Here Maps, Drive, Transit and Lens. Full offline navigation.

Google Maps is available via third party app called gmaps pro. It's updated often and as good as the official one.
