Im never buying a shit telltale product again after that horrible bug in the Walking Dead that erased my savegame.

Looks pretty but I doubt it'll be as good as Walking Dead.

I have no preconceived ideas going in either way.

I didn't think Walking Dead would be that good going into it so at the minimum I owe them the benefit of the doubt, and I've never read this line of comics.

I'll play it, but I swear to god if it loses my saves between chapters, I'll burn Telltale to the ground.

CHOICES YOU MAKE IMPACT THE ENTIRE STORY

except your save gets deleted between chapters, so you're stuck with the default choices!

Same deal as every Telltale season.  Looks nice, would like to play it some day, but still haven't played X number of their last game seasons so will pick this up at $2 down the line.

Played through the first episode. Takes about 2 hours. It's good. Solid if you like these kind of games/experiences. I mean as long as the stories and universes they keep picking for these type of games are interesting, I'll keep buying/playing them. Kind of reminds me of when Infocom was hitting their stride. They really seem to have a good grip on these style "games"

This one is a murder mystery with a bit of a film noir touch to it.

I really liked TWD but I kind of want to wait on this one for a while to see if any save bugs or anything pop up. I also know nothing about the Fables universe so I'm not nearly as compelled early on as I was with TWD.

Echoing others, not touching this until we know if the save bug pops up in this as well.

I'm the opposite. The fact that it was the Walking Dead was a turn-off for me. I felt it was going to rely too heavily on the show as a basis for tone. I was glad and rather surprised it had its own voice.

A universe that I'm not familiar with is generally more interesting than seeing another iteration on a franchise that is all over the place.

Telltale consists of 125 people juggling 4 games at once.

What can possibly go wrong?  :derp

I thought I remember reading stories at the beginning of December talking about how the second episode won't be out until the new year.

I'm not really rushed. Whenever these new episodes appear for any of these type of games its a pleaseant surprise. I tend to forgot about them completely until I see an announcement on some website that the next episode is going to drop soon.

I played Episode 1 when it was free on XBL during the holiday period, I was pleasantly surprised! The premise sounded ehhhhhh on paper, but it's pretty damn good. Interesting characters and visuals, and the story was really engaging. The Toad character was awesome. The "Season Pass" was on sale too, so I scooped it for 10 bucks or so. It's nice to have all the content pre-paid, really looking forward to news on an episode 2 release date!

If you enjoy comics, Fables is a must-read. Willingham really found his niche and has written a great epic, with a lot of heroism, humanity, suspense, and humor.

Man, I nabbed the free episode 1, but didn't notice the season pass was discounted at that time! :mac

Well, I'll probably finish playing TWD Season 1 by the time this gets discounted again.

It's quite common for characters to turn up in strange places in movies/tv etc. as sometimes they just need to be there for the story device the writer had planned. They may explain what Beast was up to - but I'm not holding my breath.

Actually, yeah why was he there? Was he partaking in hookers in the side also? Maybe he was looking for Beauty and he found a rumor trail leading there, she was leaving the apartments at nights on the reg so it's logical that Beast was aware/suspicious. There are a few plausible explanations tbh

the guy who tries to do the right thing and doesn't outright kill people, but also roughs folks up without much provocation and is okay with not being liked. Snow and I are very It's Complicated right now

As a specific example from Ep 3:

spoiler (click to show/hide)
When Snow was giving the eulogy, I gestured to her and she blew me off. I then interrupted her and told her to get the hell over here and talked to me, which pissed her off. But Bigby, to me, seems like the sort of guy who would be polite exactly one time before losing his temper and just doing what needs to be done.

I play the Walking Dead exactly as how I would do things in real life without any real consideration of the effects or gameplay consequences. Sometimes I'm a dick because somebody has pissed me off and I'm pretty chilidish when I get pissed off in real life. Sometimes I'm a nice guy because that's the way I like to think of myself.

I play The Wolf Among Us much more as a character because that is the way the story strikes me. It's less about me and more about the universe and the characters. I'm basically playing Wolverine. Who is a gruff but ultimately a good character. So my choices basically fall in line with that.

Like I had no problem killing people in Walking Dead if I felt they "deserved" it. I would have a harder time making that same decision in The Wolf Among us.

I think what was unsatisfying for me was

spoiler (click to show/hide)
Georgie being the killer. I figured the hired killer would be someone more menacing. I see how it ties back into the ribbons and the girl, and whatever Narissa/Faith was up to. But Georgie being the killer is sort of a let down. He didn't come off as that type of persona. Dee, Dumb, Crooked Man, or Mary would have felt better. Mary is like your prime physical rival, but there's no reason to it other than the Crooked Man's orders.

I guess you could say there was some playfulness in that. The beheadings come off as a very vicious type of killing. You have the lingering image of the axe through the story. You have tons of violence from Bluebeard, Dee, Dumb, Jersey Devil, Grendel and such. Mary is a part of the violence, but its not brutal until the end. This feeds into Bigby's ferocious wolf-nature.  However, the beheadings are done by the untying of a ribbon. Making the killings a gentile yet gruesome act.

Played the final two episodes. I liked it. I liked it alot. The entire season I mean.

Completely different feel than the Walking Dead games.

The Walking Dead games are about the characters. And ultimately the who lives who dies. It's less about the actual story.

Wolf Among is all about the characterization of the universe and the story.

I describe it this way. Once Clementine is gone from the series. I may stop playing the Walking Dead games. Because Lee, Clementine, etc are the reason you play.

I could play many Wolf Among Us games and the cast doesn't really matter to me. It's how they go about storytelling and the universe that's so interesting for me. I like the characters. But its the universe and the tone that's the draw.

The Fable world is interesting. I am curious if they intend to continue on the story. Would be cool if we got to go to the Farm.
