Anyone have experience with Roomba auto-vacuums?
« on: August 15, 2013, 04:14:19 PM »
I am thinking of getting one to help with cat litter and hair that is getting to be frustrating. I would only need it do do one room and a hallway to contain the problem.

I am looking at the 650 and the 760. The difference is only $50 but reviews tend to read more like PR documents than a real breakdown of the differences. It looks like the more expensive one just adds hepa filters (which I don't need) and "lighthouses" for directing the device (which don't seem necessary, at least for the area I am seeking to clean).

Anyone have one, or know someone who does?

My mother bought one a few years ago but I've never seen her actually use it when I've been over after the first few months. I think she got tired of having to move everything around to create a clear path for the device to do its work.

I have a cat. If I get a roomba, will my cat ride it? YouTube makes me believe it'll happen.

Will probably freak it out into shedding even more.

My only tip for those interested in a Roomba. If you have an animal that has hair don't buy one. I got one from Costco a few weeks back thinking it would do a better job than me cleaning the floor every few days. In just 3 days the spindle was fucked. Had to take it back to Costco since  I didn't want to deal with Roomba support. Are cat's loved it though and the fat one took a ride on it. The  Roomba performed like a champ, but the spindle and it's design make it impossible to clean properly when it's got a bunch of hair on it.

I'm sticking with my animal Dyson DC25

Same. For me it's more about the litter.

I just got a Roomba 770 and it is sweet.  It even finds ways to untangle itself out of cords, at least so far in my experience.  It picks up short dog hair and my dog seems to approve it moving around.

It is cleaning the fuck out of my carpet.  I guess my old vacuum was shit because I have to clean it out (and it's full) every 10-15 minutes.
