I am definitely not buying any of the next gen at launch.  I hate the fact that both the ps4 and xb1 are really weak with xb1 being weaker.  I am also concerned that the GDDR5 RAM in the ps4 would be a detriment for MMO's and RPG's as we havent seen any being announced or the ps4 except capcoms MMO which looks mediocre graphically.

I am just gonna buy a good pc when the consoles launch and wait till the dust clears before i buy.

I had no intention since both were announced without BC. But whereas I knew for a fact I was going a PS4 sometime next year, I'm slightly less certain today.

On PC yes, I am going to get them. Like this post.

What Oscar is trying to say that is that you're going to get them for PC, maybe install them, then watch other athletes play them.

If I get one at launch it will probably be Xbone since I have a group of friends I play Forza with regularly. But probably will sit out both for now, would prefer to get a Vita instead if I was buying a new console.

But for a few hundred dollars I think a 27" Korean 120hz monitor for my PC would be a better choice.

The doubt thread of PC gaming losing its appeal #1

At the light of the next launch of two next-gen console and considering that basically every important indie game is now heading towards PlayStation 4 or Xbox One, don't you think that PC gaming suffered quite an hard hit in terms of appeal?

Diablo is coming to PC too, basically every AAA title is available on consoles and so on.

Also, lots and lots of people which played on PC with casual games such as The Sims has migrated towards mobile platforms.

I see PC gaming in a much worst position in comparison to - let's say - a year or two ago.

 Your thoughts?

I'm still getting a PS4, but only because it's already paid for with trade-in credit.  Not excited for it in the slightest, but hey!  Maybe one of the launch games will surprise me.

Current-gen/PC is where it's at.

Walk me through this logic.

Well GDDR5 RAM is high latency fast speed because of memory controllers, it is the memory controller that makes the definition from GDDR5 and DDR3.  It is good for graphics because latency makes no difference to it, but no one ever uses it for CPU RAM because of the high latency.  Fun fact the G in GDDR5 stands for Graphics.  I go no idea exactly how much it would affect CPU performance but it would affect CPU performance.  Highly complex programs like those found in MMO's and RPG's would be affected by CPU latency from the RAM.  Could possibly cause a lot of dips in performance in those types of games.  And before anyone brings up that there is no difference between GDDR5 and DDR3 Memory and that Sony could have custom memory controllers, then it would cease to be GDDR5 memory and be custom DDR3 memory.

I'm really going back and forth on this in my mind... With Playstation Plus I would get a load of games for cheap and it is kind of appealing only to have to buy one box for the next 5 years.

Also I suck less in FPS on consoles so I would get more fun out of competitive shooters   :-[

Typical. You also only had a gamecube instead of a PS2 right? :holeup  :heh

I will see how much I get trading in all my xbox wares once I'm done with them, I imaigne will be enough for a PS4 and a game or two. Though I stupidly bought a 12 month live subscription when drunk a few weeks back... So I'll likely be holding onto it for a while and there's a lot I'm yet to play

My PS2 broke so I bought the superior console. The highs on the Cube piss all over PS2:

- Baten Kaitos games are better than any JRPG on PS2
- F-Zero GX is better than any racer on PS2
- Definitive version of Killer 7
- Had RE4 first and superior version

I'm talking on a 1v1 basis. I enjoyed the BK games more than any individual JRPG I played on PS2. The PS2 JRPG library is amazing, of course.

Beside the point... I doubt on a redo you would ever take that console on its own. It will be the same for Xbone. It will be dead outside of the States in months if not dead in the States as well. PS4 is cheaper, no region locking, no kinect requirement, better hardware, cheaper, japanese games (xbone isn't even getting a japanese release initially) the rest is up in the air. I have no love for Sony 1st party, and the self published indie stuff is whatever, but still nice as an alternative to Steam. Will MS pay for a Platinum game exclusive? Maybe. Will it be a token effort? yup, and I imagine we'll hear of a couple projects like this http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shin_Megami_Tensei:_NINE

MS is counting on vendor lock in (old whores addicted to the cheevs), families who dig kinect and patriotic americans. Nobody else should be interested

I'm going to be picking up a PS4 at launch because I don't want to invest money into a PC.  I've got a laptop that meets all of my internet needs just fine.  Plus, I work at Gamestop, so I get a discount on everything but brand-new consoles.  And I can check out any game I want to for free and play it for up to four days.

It is honestly more cost effective for me to buy a console.  Plus, I want to BF4 with my friends and most of them are migrating to PS4.

Nah.  I know that life is better when gaming on a PC.  It was the way I did things for a long time before I realized the value of money.  I'm just doing what's feasible for me.

Unless you work there too, I don't understand your hatred of the company, or anyone else's for that matter.  Being employed there is on the same tier with working in fast food, but for the consumer, they have a lot to offer.

Well, between my friend selling some stuff for me on ebay over the weekend, and trading in a PSP Go and Memcard with a +50% coupon at Gamestop (they gave me more for the card than the system :lol), I am already $187 closer to getting this thing. Besides the comics I've got a 20" monitor to sell, and a handful of oddball comics-related stuff (artwork), so I'm thinking within a month I'll have enough for the PS4 and a game. I'll probably end up in the second or third wave of release. I'm actually getting a little excited. Nothing like that new console smell!
