I LOOOVE FC2, but I realize that the ways in which its broken probably validate my personal play-style. I would almost always roll with a sniper rifle and stay off the roads, so that's two big problems people have with the game defused. Enemies homing in on you when you shoot (because they have excellent hearing, but also because the stealth is broken)? Not an issue when you engage them from half a kilometer away. Respawning patrols on the roads and checkpoints? Not a problem if you stay off the roads. Jamming weapons? Not a problem if you grab a fresh weapon every time you go out on a mission. Sudden bout of malaria? Not an issue if the enemies are, again, half a kilometer away. Pop a pill and keep shooting, moving position with every other shot. It's all about compulsive sniping, basically. That, and the occasional mortar strike. And tactical arson.
That second map was really unnecessary though. I played it again a few months ago and lost steam a couple missions into the second map.
FC3 made different approaches much more viable, but I ended up playing it the same way for the most part, only instead of fire and mortars, there were wild animals and functioning stealth. That's broken in a different way. The usual procedure: free any caged animal, headshot whoever's corpse is unlikely to be discovered, sabotage the alarm system, stealth kill every remaining enemy.
