Probably a descendant of Genghis Khan.  I think some believed he was a ginger.

No, it is weird, just not uncommon.
You don't need to point out the weirdness associated with gingers, it's implied in what ever topic has the misfortune to be associated with them.  Just like you don't have to point out that they lack souls and any human rights; we already all know it.
