That yakuza trailer was cool. maybe I should try playing Yakuza 2 again. I think I stopped last time because I had to play some mahjong minigame and they wanted me to read 11 pages or rules.

madcatz is doing a stream from TGS with a beat-a-pro challenge in SF4. They are supposed to have proper matches (pro vs pro) as well, but I think that is on friday.

pros present for the beat a pro challenge: Daigo, Tokido, Ryan Hart, Justin Wong, Mike Ross, Mago and Xian. Stream and commentary by Spooky.

This winter.
2013 for iOS, 2014 for Android.
A playable demo is at TGS and the game will be distrubuted in the same way as it was in the original feature phone and WiiWare versions, split into chapters.

Yakuza looks like a Kenzan sequel you'd expect to come out 2 years after Kenzan.  I can't believe like 6 years later, a new generation of hardware and the gameplay/graphics/everything look pretty much the same.  Series needs some advancement...

Still gonna get it and play it.

Also, the three "NEXT-GEN" trailers in this thread all looks like mid-tier PS3 games graphically.  I wonder if 99% of Japanese PS4 games will look like PS3 games like how 99% of them looked like PS2 games for most of its life.  I guess that's an improvement!

Well, I meant more like from a gameplay perspective.  I haven't played Y3/Y4/Y5/Dead Souls and yet it looks pretty much the same game as Kenzan.

Hopefully for graphics it'll at least mean 1080p, 60fps with some AA on PS4.  I could definitely live with some RGG games with great image quality outside of cutscenes.

Deep Down gameplay demonstration looked pretty damn nice graphically.  Totally a next-gen Dark Souls.  Who knows how the gameplay will be, but yeah, when you're sticking to dark corridor games and next-gen hardware, you can definitely make some pretty nice looking stuff.

After leaving Level-5 last year, Final Fantasy Tactics and Vagrant Story director Yasumi Matsuno is now working with tabletop publisher Playdek on a new strategy game called Unsung Story, coming to digital platforms. That'll include iOS and Android for certain, Playdek CEO Joel Goodman told Joystiq today, but he was keen to not limit the game to those platforms.

With Nintendo non-attending as usual and Microsoft being Microsoft, not sure what else we would expect beyond Sony stuff and mobile.

You think he'll put effort into the gameplay balance, difficulty, variety, or anything related this time? Or will it be another FFT/TO/Disgaea/Awakening kind of game.

I think he will write an overly complicated story involving politics and war, shoehorn in a lot of poorly implemented micromanagement and unbalanced customization, and then check out halfway though and let the assistant director finish it off.
