We're selling Surface 2 for $449.

Why would they sell this for $450 when the big iPad is only $50 more and you can get real laptops with real windows in the $400-$500 range ???

Microsoft has a special app, in combination with Xbox Music, that lets you remix music.

Panos is demonstrating the mixing ability of the cover with the app.

"That is the Surface remix project. You have never seen that before. It is just the beginning."

Surface 2 is sent to die with that price. I expected them to go Surface mini because that at least might look different and better valued. Maybe even priced cheaper.

Pro 2 is the real deal. It's a beast and the only one worth buying.

Yeah, the S2 seems dumb and so does keeping the RT.

I expected a $200 7" tablet. Something real aggressive like THE SURFACE NOOK.
They are not dropping the original Surface price. I know they recently did but I expected at least $50 or $20 less.

They are doing a mini Surface RT BTW. Rumored to be unveiled this fall.

My guess is that they wanted to partner up with Nvidia due to contract or something because the rumored Mini is not gonna run on Tegra, but a Snapdragon.

I don't know why they didn't just keep surface 1 and just drop the price further. It runs okay (better than last-gen atom win8 tablets IMO), and it's not like anyone's gonna make apps for it anyway. Mine is basically a word processor/web browser, and it does that just fine.

The new docking station for the Surface Pro 2 is pretty slick and compact. As you can see, there are plenty of ports to extend the Surface Pro 2 for use in other devices. We saw one of them at the event when the docking station was connected to a big Dell monitor.

Updated my W8 tablets/convertible comparison table with Surface 2, Sony Tab 11 and LenovoHelix.

The Surface Pro 2 spec is exactly the same as Surface Pro 1, I think MS just dropped the new i5 into the current chassis

Pro 2 heavier than the Pro. Good jon MS.

This thing looks neat enough but the iPad *exists*. This is MS' problem.

Eh, I'd say the price is more the problem and lack of apps like Facebook ( :neogaf)

If Microsoft solved those, completely wiped Metro and made an "iPad" clone GUI like Android-kinda-sorta-not-really-ish did... maybe they'd get Joe Consumer.

We're selling Surface 2 for $449.

:holeup :larry Though I really want a Pro if I was getting a Surface...

"$899"

:holeup :holeup :holeup :lawd :holeup :kobeyuck :badass

Still for "enthusiast" people or businesses. I guess I could get a 1 Pro if they price dropped, but eh... that 4-8 gig in the Surface 2 Pro seems nice. Looking at Andy's spreadsheet, it looks like the 2 Pro only adds 4 gigs more. :holeup

>Surface PRO 2 no Office :neogaf

Gotta fleece that extra $100 or so out of you, dude.

I can't really see this "revision" changing MS' fortunes, which is a shame because I do like the concept of a "tablet-laptop" hybrid and the cover-keyboard combo. But at the prices MS is asking, I can't simply buy it for a "dick around" everyday combo when there are other options out there for those prices.
