Yo, why we still got these in 2013?
« on: September 25, 2013, 11:08:07 PM »

I don't mean why do they exist at all, I can figure that shit out. But, ya know, most of these were built in around the late 1800's/early 1900's when Confederate nostalgia was really booming (but before bumper stickers were invented, so you had to built a monument back then). So that gives you a good 100 years for someone to get in there and just really go to town with a sledgehammer. Obviously I'm too lazy, but maybe someone could do a kickstarter thing or something, I dunno, help me out Great Rumbler.

Slavery happened. Deal with it. Do not dwell in the past, or even in the future, cherish this moment, right now.

I feel like tearing down a monument would be a pretty awesome "in the moment" thing to do. Or maybe just peeing on it.

Those things are hard as rock. I have trouble with stubborn pickle jars, I doubt I could take one down. Who wants to suffer the embarassment of being beaten by a 100 year old tombstone? Not me

Destroying the tombstone is easy, it's thinking of a respectful replacement and paying for it that nobody wants to do.

It's really easy, tear down this shit and erect something that says "in loving memory of the victims of racial discrimination and prejudice that died while being enslaved by their fellow men"

Actually I think it's pretty good to have these still be around. It shows you how the discrimination is justified in people's minds. To them, black people were just faithful servants. Like a dog that can talk, but no reading or writing goddamn it!

Tearing down historical monuments is not something I can support. Let's keep them as a reminder instead.

Only the top one is kind of a tombstone. The other ones are just like "Hey, you know what was awesome? Slavery."

Here's a full picture of the bottom one, which is front of a courthouse:

The irony is that if you demolish one, some poor black caretaker will probably be forced to clean it up.

I read that chicken drumsticks are only popular with many negros because of the subliminal association with the bongo drums of slavery they heard in boats.

'they' is the collective noun for slaves.
Feminism was fundamentally based around the abolition of slavery. And where did it get them?
Yep. Not very far.
