In our second segment we talk about games we've been playing including X-Com (long war mod), Endless Space: Disharmony, Silent Hunter 4: Wolves of the Pacific, Rome Total War 2, Shogun Total War 2, Max Payne 3, Amnesia: A Machine for Pigs, Outlast, Rayman Legends, Legend of Dungeon, Terraria (Android), and Minecraft.

I like the story, too.

Also, I've been holding my tongue, but here it is. A lot of people giving me grief are the same people who'll play the same JRPGs over and over again, dozens of them, each with 20-30 hours of the most mind-numbing insipid storylines ever written, and they'll go back for more with their tongues hanging out when the next in the "series" comes out. And giving ME shit about liking the story in Half-Life 2? All y'all can eat my dick and a bullet.

Is the windows phone talk Eel's Lumia 520? I am a step away from ordering that myself. I was thinking about the 5c but I'm off contract and the Lumia is $120... I just figure I'll play with windows phone 8 for a year and then upgrade to something better when I (hopefully) have more spending money. Plus I figure saving money on the phone frees up some tablet money

If I grabbed a 5c that's basically it for months

Looking forward to the Legend of Dungeon talk. I've been meaning to look into that one for awhile. Looks interesting

I never cared for 1 at all tbh...it took me over a year to finally beat because it was so boring. As far as 2 it's not so much a fleshed out story as the world that it is set in. I definitely agree that actual story is weak...but enough to keep me interested in playing HL3 whenever it comes out. I'm sure as hell not invested in it like some.

Doug is spot on about Minecraft. What surprised me most is the amount of deathmatch servers. If the kids aren't playing normal minecraft or watching minecraft youtube videos, they are probably playing a deathmatch game on some server

My kid asked me about Cubeworld the other day. Cubeworld, a game in alpha that released two months ago and kids already know about it because it looks like Minecraft with magic

Since I don't own a 360 I'm looking forward to buying a Vita TV and letting them play Minecraft on the TV. I can finally get my computer back

Oh shit, Yoritomo has trouble playing M+KB games in the living room and bedroom? We'll make him a controller. He's sick of logging his brats into his steam account on their machine? Library sharing. He ran networking cable to every room in his house? Game streaming. Windows 8 pisses him off as an HTPC OS due to individual metro apps having shitting compatibility with remote/keyboard controls? Steam OS.

But I'm a unique flower. So even if valve doesn't take over the world, they're currently fellating me.

Doesn't library sharing mean that if someone is logged in playing ANYTHING in your shared library, you can't log in to play anything, even if it's not the game they're currently playing? Or did I hear that wrong?

No I think you heard right. Now when my daughter wants to play a game in my library she won't fuck up my save games, and I don't have to log her in, but it works the same otherwise. If I decide to play something and she's playing a game she doesn't own she gets booted. It ain't ideal but it's a step and better than what we have to deal with right now.

My 7 year old has minecraft as a default. She'll play other games and screw around on web games, but when all else bores her she falls back to minecraft.

I'm trying to avoid being the admin for a server of elementary school kids.

It's huge in middle school as well. Kids keep trying to find ways to play here at school.

Steam box is worthless to me and many other big families. The living room is a common area. One person playing a game there would mean the other 4 people would be off in other rooms doing something else. No one person would have enough time to spend alone in the living room. I don't have any consoles in the living room for that reason.
