so 2 days ago around evening we had some work in my house and we couldn't find our cat and as she has an habit of hiding around we just tought she would come out of her own... so morning arrives and the cat is nowhere to be found,i live in a condo so we searched all around,talked to other resident but nothing,it's like it vanished into thin air

i've had that cat for around 16-17 years and loved it like a caring mom,i feel horrible all around but i tought that maybe talking about it with a bunch of strangers on the internet would make me feel better... so... here it is

there's no way for a cat to enter through my windows as i don't live on the first floor,i keep a glance at the door of my condo every once in a while but so far i've got nothing... the thing that really makes me angry is that nobody saw her leaving in the first place,we even tought she might have died inside house since she actualy had an health problem and was getting pretty old but she's nowhere to be found... she shed quite a lot so i've been trying to find if her fur was inside the actual condo but even that turned nothing... the condo has a garage i look there once in a while but nothing

did you do anything? i even talked with my mother about the idea of picking another cat if she doesn't turn out... i miss her but somehow the idea of remaining pet-less is what really makes me feel bad

Yeah I asked my neighbors, put up missing cat flyers at the corner store and throughout the neighborhood, and called the humane society a bunch of times.

I have two cats, 1 of them I had alongside my cat that disappeared and one that showed up at my doorstep a few weeks ago malnourished and abused.

We had a cat for about 16 or 17 years like you did, she was having some health problems but it looked like she was improving and then she got killed by some roaming dogs. It was really depressing, I had feels for few weeks over that. You get over it, though. The cat I have now is semi-feral, well his mom was anyway, we found him in an abandoned house as a kitten. He's a bastard too.

The dog we had as kids used to run away all the time, but she always came back. Couldn't stop bawling whenever it happened. Our first cat used to go outside, but one day she ate some plants covered by antifreeze that some asshole dumped out and died. Our second cat never went outside. It was to the point that she was almost scared if you let her out there. She'd just stand there, wondering what was going on.

She lived to the ripe old age of 19. And now my wife and I have a little dog. No idea what would happen if she got out but we do everything possible to prevent that from happening. Little bitch can scrap, though.

It's actually a happier way to lose a pet than to see it slowly wither away in your home until you have to make some horrible decision.

At least you will always have that hope that your cat is out there living free or someone else took it in.

i tought she might have been carried away in such a scenario,it involved moving a bath tub but my mother says she would have probably jumped out if she was inside something and that something started to move

my cat punched out a second floor screen and leaped/fell out of the window while me and my lady were out. We didn't know how long our cat was outside (not more then five hours) but we found her immediately cowering outside our apartment, freaked out as f***.

I very much hope your cat returns, and should that not be the case, I can only offer my condolences.
