Finished TLOU this morning
« on: September 29, 2013, 02:28:15 PM »
Game of the generation? Quite possibly.

Best storytelling in a game? Yep.

What a tour de force, it will be hard to go back to lesser games now.

Really sad its all over now.

I'm honestly not going to be lectured on taste in games by someone who finds pvp enjoyable, and has likely shelled out for many months of mmo memberships.

You clearly have your taste in games and I have mine.  Let's just both operate under the assumption that any interaction between us is going to ultimately result in "fuck off, you suck" and I'll stay out of your threads, you stay out of mine.

Last time we argued about something the biggest video game company changed their game to what I said what best and pulled out a feature you liked.

After that you admitted to spending 70+ bucks on that dragons scam. Swear to god you're that type of dude who thinks he gets a good deal when he buys 99 cent burger at mickey d and then argues with someone eating kobe beef.

Im not gonna say fuck you cause were talking about games man

Demi... of literally EVERYONE on this forum, you have zero room to talk about anyone else's spending habits.  "Oh, a $20 port of a Squeenix game I already have in 2 other formats?  Lemme buy that."

Also, $70 on PAD is roughly equal to about 5 months of WoW fees.  Marinate on that.

I think my point is that we all have spent money on games and shit that make others go "smh" so I'll simply continue to go nuclear when someone I view as roughly the caliber of poster as methodis tries to use mine to mock me.

Yes but there are grades in being stupid

F2P scam games are the lowest in picking order at the moment, just a step below subscription mmo's. If you just accept that you will have it easier on forums cause everyone knows this already.

Also MMO's 5/10 years ago provided an experience that didn't exists with a different pay model, unlike PAD and F2P scams.

I spent $15 on DCU Online and then immediately quit playing :(

I spend umpteen dollars on Steam and hardly ever play any of the games :(

I'm buying a PS4 :( (although in my defense it is pretend money)

I have no room to talk about anything :(

...but I'm still gonna :teehee

I don't get all the "game of the generation" comments.  I really don't.   I haven't finished it myself because frankly I got kind of bored of it.  The game has that Doom 3 "Monster Closet" design thing going on.  Walk walk walk cut scene walk walk walk enemies in small area walk walk walk more enemies walk enemies walk walk walk cut scene repeat.  I realize that this is so many games but for some reason it just stood out to me TLoU.  Maybe it was all the hype that did it.  I guess I really should go back and finish it already now that the hype is gone and I know what to expect.  If we're comparing similar types of games this year, I liked Tomb Raider a hell of a lot more.

I also enjoyed the multiplayer in Uncharted 2/3, but TLoU's multi didn't grab me either.

I don't get all the "game of the generation" comments.

People who solely seem to like the characters while kind of ignoring the rest of the gameplay experience are the ones likely to say such things. It's a good game but its not remotely close to game of the generation for me or anything.

It's a pretty good game.  I haven't played any of the Uncharteds so I can't speak to their quality, though.  I will say that I generally dig post-apocalyptic games as a genre more than any other, though.

I kind of disagree with Wrath- at about the 2/3 point of the game, I really got tired of the gameplay.  If I hadn't been mildly interested in the story I would have dropped it altogether.

Uncharted 2 is their best.

Agreed. By a good margin. It doesn't feel burdened design wise by its gravitas like Last of US.

And I won't even mention Uncharted 3.   :yuck

I said it's maybe the best game this gen, among other gems like Modern Warfare 1, Mirrors Edge.

EDIT: Also, Lager. I prefer Alan Wake, but to each his own as i don't care enough to compare two games that aren't similar in anyway other than being third person and involving the shooty shoot.

Come on, this and Alan Wake are very close to each other in what they try to be. The difference is that TLOU is more cohesive and has better gameplay then Alan Wake. Alan Wake's shooting is crappy and the combat repetitve, in TLOU there are always options in each encounter.

Alan Wake pulls of amazing settings and spooky atmosphere for sure, and this is an area where it's almost as tight as TLOU and I loved the game for it.

<Lager> finished a Sony brand game today, best game ever

<Oscar> saw a Lager post about sky being blue, claims sky is red

It's a solid game, probably an 8.5 or whatever.  I hate on it because people want to make it something it's not.

Tomb Raider was pretty damn good too, def agree on that. One of the better shooter/adventures games of the gen for sure.

How far did you get in TLOU? There is a scene in the later part of the game that made me compare it to TR, but it was much more impactful in TLOU.

:lol @ Ni no Kuni being that great.  Unless i am being a tard and can actually control multiple monsters at the same time it is pretty crappy.  If you are in danger you just turn back to the main dude and heal yourself.  Game is boring as fuck and looks almost like a high end wii(not wii U) game.   Sony fans passing that shit off as looking like a studio Ghibli movie are kidding themselves.
