3DS is not an indie handheld.

what are the odds logitech will make a version for the 4 or 4s?

i wonder if the ios controller api allows for dual analog stick (not like they are absolutely necessary - just curious)

Thanks Oscar, I had tried to find information about that this morning but had come up empty.

This is going to be great - really hope the ipad controllers aren't janky shit - my (upcoming) ipad mini will probably live in something like this.

I want a separate controller for my iPad. Is that so hard to do?

Well, devs are still required to include touch controls, so there might be an initial lull while that gets slapped together for some games, but 6 months from now the games section of the app store is gonna look like a whole different animal.

I'd like to see someone do a one piece case that  lays over the bezels.

Something like this, but with a smaller footprint and no analogs. Just a D pad and some buttons.

I'm ready for this to take off, even though I don't own an Apple device.

I can't wait for this to come out.  I want Nintards wailing as the momentum of the 3DS outside Japan slows to a halt.  I want Iwata bowing his head in shame as he announces Virtual Console titles for the iOS.  #hating

There will be a shit-ton of companies doing various controller configurations. Apple's official "partners" are Logitech and another company whose name I can't recall right now, the best devices will probably come from them. I'd imagine everyone will be able to find one to suit their individual tastes by this time next year.

Is there word on whether there will be a dock that will allow you to plug in a controller and hook your iOS device up to a TV?

Only a matter of time.

I think Apple TV already does this through streaming, but dunno if it works with every game.

Imagine the battery life though... 1 or 2 hours tops...

Nope, but you can buy an Apple TV and mirror your iPhone to your TV.

But does it work with every game and whats the latency?

Can we trust Apple to deliver a Nintendolike seamless experience?

There are also direct cables that do it at least for the ipad.

Stoney beat me to it, but there are HDMI cables for the device from Apple itself, so, yeah. .

Still don't get why IOS gets all the games/peripherals when Android apparently has a much bigger marketshare:

Because there is so much hardware variation in the android world, it is difficult to provide any kind of consistency across experience. It is very easy to program for Apple hardware is 100% consistent across them, any given generation. Android, in contrast, has wildly varying hardware specs.

There's also a fairly well-known problem across developers that the android marketplace is basically Mos Eisley. Piracy is rampant, commonly available to even standard, locked android phones, and Google is doing nothing to correct the marketplace of the design flaws which allow this to happen every day. For many developers, developing on android is simply not a priority because they will not see money for it.

Edit: Joe, with the conciseness.

Works with everything AFAIK.  I messed around with it and played some games without any real noticeable lag a while back.  But I'm sure using an HDMI cable directly is much better for this.
