The only thing I really want is Battlefield 4. I think some other games are interesting but nothing I need to spend the money on. Maybe I'll pick up gamefly just to try a couple of them. Just curious about what other people are getting.

XB1: Call of Duty Ghosts, Dead Rising 3, Killer Instinct, Ryse, Crimson Dragon and Below.

There is also Project Spark which is free but I reckon my Windows 8 PC will be better for it.

Are you legit interested in all that stuff or are you just getting it all because you have the money to blow and why not. Just curious not that it matters.

I played every Modern Warfare game and enjoyed Spec Ops immensely so why not grab this on X1? I also loved both Dead Rising games and 3 is just bigger and better from the look of it.

KI for nostalgia faggotry and the friends/family when they visit. Ryse = graphical showcase for X1 so must at least grab it new or used.

As for the other two, I'm not in a hurry so might grab them a bit later.

Fair enough. I was just curious.

I'm getting:
• Killzone: Shadow Fall - I really like the series and it seems like they've added a lot to it.
• Resogun - Super Stardust HD is one of the best games on the PS3 and even if this wasn't included for free with PS+ I would definitely buy it day one.
• DriveClub (unless it's delayed) - It seems like a decent racing game and I can try the freebie version before I decide if it's worth $60.
• Flower, flOw, Sound Shapes - Apparently these are free since I own the PS3 versions and they might be fun to replay.
• The Pinball Arcade - If it's free and I can play my old tables then I'm getting it day one. Otherwise I'll wait for the post-launch drought.
• Knack (maybe?) - I don't think I'm willing to pay full price for it, but it seems sorta interesting. Unless it gets glowing reviews I'll probably wait for a price drop.

What didn't you like about it?

The combat looks boring, but I was hoping for some decent platforming and puzzle sections.

I've never bought a console at launch, I'm pretty sheltered I guess. I don't like to fuck with multiple consoles at once, that's just not how I am so I know I'm going to wait and see how each one stacks up. Just got to knows which one I'll click with.

Ain't shit I know I have to buy besides Mirrors Edge 2 so I got time to decide. I'm totally gay for BF4 for my shooter fix but I know it's more of the same so I don't want to rebound back into that.

  • Killzone Shadowfall
  • Call Of Duty Ghosts
  • Injustice GOTY Edition

So one actual PS4-only game and two games I can buy on PC/PS3/360.  yaaaaay.

Might be tempted to get Battlefield, but I've never liked that series.  Everything I really want for the next few months is coming out on PS3, PC, Vita, and 3DS.

it's just a mushy, clumsy piece of shit. the motivating mechanic of the game seems to be some kind of katamari style growth deal, only the bigger knack gets, the less nuance there is to the gameplay. by the end of the demo you're this hulking barely playable mass of particle effects flailing away at tanks at something like 15FPS.

Driveclub and Resogun were the two.  One is delayed and the other is part of PS Plus, so probably nothing else.  Slim pickings if you primarily play games on PC.

Killzone looks alright for what it is, but I'm not and haven't been in the mood to play that kind of shooter.  Knack looks like a Lego game, and if I were to get a Lego game, it'd be Lego Marvel for the fan service.

PS4 and getting Killzone, Knack, NBA2K14 and probably some indie games.  Then it's the long wait until the first next-gen game I really want with Infamous SS & Yakuza Isshin in Feb.

If I was getting an Xbox One I'd get Dead Rising 3, Forza (even though I hate Forza, but I like looking at pretty car games) and Crimson Dragon.  But planning on going 1 console-only for next-gen and Xbox having better launch games doesn't really change that long-term-wise the PS4 is definitely going to be the better choice for me.  Maybe in a few years when it's in the $200-300 range.

I think DR3 will be the only actual "fun" launch game between the two systems, only because DR2 was really awesome.  Fingers crossed it comes to PC down the line.

Sounds bad, but games, especially new IP launch games, often don't demo very well.  I'll still give it a shot because its a whimsy new IP launch platformer and who knows, it could be good in the end.  I liked Kameo quite a bit.  Also it's by Sony Japan Studios and they're still a pretty solid bunch of staff; most of their games these days come off as pretty damn janky but have a lot of good qualities if you stick with them.  Puppeteer is a good example.

Also after gaf informed me that NFS Rivals is actually developed by Criterion's new splinter-off studio and watching some videos where it looks pretty damn nice and fun (basically Hot Pursuit 2), I'm getting that too.  Will be nice to have an arcade racer at launch despite Drive Club being delayed.  I can't think of a system launch that didn't have a decent arcade racer.

If I were getting a ps4, I'd go with Drive Club and BF4. As Sho'nuff said, the lack of a Ridge Racer is just absolute heresy, though. A console launch should have a traditional Ridge Racer just to display the capabilities of the system. I'd be down for buying a ps4 in 2014 if a new Ridge Racer were being made for it. End of an era. Fuck off Namco.

I have preorders on both of these things and am still unsure what I'll do. The PS4 is cheaper and seems like it will be the better system in the long run but for exclusive non-PC games that interest me, the Xbone lineup is way more appealing. I'm super into Dead Rising, so DR3 is in, and I've liked Forza in the past so if that's not a clusterfuck I'd probably be into that too. I'm even considering Ryse after seeing the graphics in that story trailer that just came out.

PS4 has Killzone, but I've never bothered buying a Killzone though I've tried a few demos. If I get one, I'll pick it up though as it does look kinda pretty, and it's not like I'm going to buy Knack to break the system in with  :-X
Resogun looks great but it's not a system seller to me from what I can tell.

I have a decent PC so 3rd party stuff might not do any better on these things anyway.

I could use a quieter/nicer blu-ray player and media streamer so that's something these consoles have going for them...

Edit: I forgot about Killer Insinct and Crimson Dragon. Both look like possible buys to me too.

When did you start playing sports games?

I used to be really into sports games.  Had all the World Series Baseball games on Saturn with the digitized dudes.  Had NFL2k/NBA2k at Dreamcast launch and yearly.  PES was my go to soccer game every year on PS2.  Played the crap out of Baseball Stars on NeoGeo, Madden on Genesis, Joe Montana football and NHL94 and up games.

Stopped buying them in the current gen because they got too realistic and complicated, since I don't follow any sports IRL.  Still got the occasional NBA2K game though since BBall is always fun and they were like $10 on PC.  Looking forward to the new engine improvements they're bringing to PS4/X1 version of 2K14.  This is gonna be one of those transition years where the PC version of some games will be based off the current gen versions, so despite weaker than PC hardware, the PS4/X1 version will be the nicest looking.

I buy a sports game maybe once every 5 years -- that's how long it takes for them to make enough improvements to make it worth it

I haven't really been following the new systems too much. Neither system doesn't really seem to have much to offer at the moment for fans of Japanese gaming so I'm gonna hold back for a while I think.

playing wind waker on wii u these last few days is pushing me towards assassin's creed pirates.  uplay is the reason I don't buy ubisoft games on pc until they're cheap and why I'm considering the ps4 version.  and there's a good half-month before the ps4 version is out.  let the ps3/360/wiiu people test it out and see if it's worth playing at all.

Re-activated gamefly this weekend. Renting Dead Rising 3 and Ryse but may switch Ryse for Forza. Not sure. The only game I'm buying is BF 4.
