I'm glad I didn't preorder it for $90. It will drop in price fast or be offered as a PS+ freebie.

Cerny should've made a Marble Madness sequel. At least I'd be hyped for that.

Knack just seemed like something they could've done under the LittleBigPlanet umbrella with a few changes, at least to me.

only ryse left now to complete the shit games for launch cycle.

but in all honesty, I'd get both knack and ryse because what else is there at launch anyway?

true but i feel the scores will be way inflated for it and will incite the fanboys because of that.

Knack is probably not as miserable, but Ryse has pretty good graphics going for it.  There's a novelty to it, like with Time Traveler or Dragon's Lair.

tbh, I'm only interested in Crimson Dragon impressions.  It started as a 360 Kinect game (that's bad) but it's supposed to be Panzer Dragoon (that's good).

I haven't had chance to play Knack yet but I can't help feeling like a lot of reviewers have totally missed the point. They seem to talk about boring content, only three attacks, secrets aren't really secret etc. Yet Mark Cerny himself said this was intended to be a family friendly game and I think it's succeeded well. Crash Bandicoot started with two mechanics, spin and jump. Mario had jump and run until he got a power up. Sonic again similar to Mario.

It's not really the enjoyability of the game I think is the issue here, or the complexity of the mechanics. When Mark talked about building a DS4 controller that made him feel like a child, so he had the experience of being a child using the DS4 controller, he that the ability to consider how a game could be built better to be family and children friendly and I think they succeed quite well. It seems Disney-like with lots of colours and the way the characters are modelled and hell, it might even be a good game. I'm gonna buy it.

So I played it a little over my lunch break at EB.

The game is actually nicer looking than I remember at the MTL Comicon, but it does that weird dithering fade out effect, like when stuff appears in Dead Rising 3.

WHAT IS DIS

Also, the framerate is whack.

According to Cerny there is a day one patch that improves it  :lol

The drab artstyle seems to kill every technical thing they're doing better than current gen games. I guess we're at that point already where the improvements fly under the radar. You have to fill the screen with particle effects or vegetation to get noticed in that area.
It's funny how chasing technology ends up invalidating it to some extent.

Cartoony games have really taken L's as graphics continue to get better. I can't even think of one kiddy/cartoony game on the PS360 that's good.

Well, if this sucks there's always the new Ratchet & Clank that just came out for action platformers.  And Mario for platformers.

I dunno though, I'm still pretty excited to play Knack.  The videos look fun and colorful and it does seem like a lot of skill and strategy is required on the hard difficulty mode.  Not expecting anything great, but will give it a fair shake.

The game looks really boring to me.

But at the same time I applaud making a game geared towards an all ages audience. But Crash the Bandicoot, Jak, Sly, Spyro, or early Ratchet it is not. With new 3d capabilities, Sony should have made a new Jumping Flash or something.

Nearly all of the LEGO games are decent enough fun and games like Disney Infinity and the new Skylanders are definitely bringing a little more depth to games that are primarily targeted at children. The Sonic All-Stars Racing games also qualify, imo.
