Had a nice time in Detroit earlier in the morning. Helped feed some homeless folks at my grandma's old church. Most were middle aged guys, but there were a couple families with small kids

Just had a living-room-to-living-room video chat with my US family, all of whom are gathered at my sister's for T-day. Pretty awesome.

20 years ago, the first time I lived in Japan, the Internet was not in widespread use, so no e-mail; postal letters cost a buck to send, and took 9 days to arrive; there was no voice chat back then either, and a phone call was about a buck a minute.

Now I can video chat for free whenever; it helps bridge the gap, for certain.

got to hang with my youngest brother who i never get to see because his wife is a bitch. was pretty to cool to see him but goddam he speaks 5 octaves higher than anyone around.
both step sisters are preggos which makes for fun listening to them bitch and watching their husbands squirm.
my parents insist on watching that thanksgiving parade in new york. i would rather watch football first. and i would rather stare at a wall for 2 hours than watching football....i think i excused myself 20 times just to get away from it....must have smoked most of a pack of cigs.

And yeah we stole an American tradition but honestly setting a date for the family to get together and thank their gods of choice for all the good things that had happened to them that year is a pretty good idea

After everyone else went and took a nap, I put the Cowboys on the TV, MST3K on my computer, and played Zelda on my 3DS. It was pretty glorious.
