omg why did I do that. 16GB of ram is going to last me so many years. If i hadn't just gotten a $2k insurance check, I would not have done that.
ok.

spending large amounts of cash scares me. spending it in smaller portions with frequent trips to taco bell and subway is more my style.

I didn't even buy a monitor yet. I just wanted to replace my crappy powermac G5 that kept crashing.
ok.

I tend to keep a couple hundred extra lying around just in case my family does something stupid and needs me to bail them out, but that's happened way too many times in the past couple of months and I laid the law down to them the last time it happened- the response now will be: go fuck yourself and get a job, you asshole.

I'm kind of torn between wanting to go on a stupid, extravagant spending spree with my bonus check and probably needing to sock away a little bit more cash for moving after school is done next May, but I'll probably piss it all away because that way if they do come (which they will) whining about bills needing to be paid, I can just stroke my shiny new electronics purchase while I tell them to fuck themselves.

having two giant studio monitors either side of your screen(s) just looks right.

What did you get? That excluding the soundcard I suppose?

I built my pc to do some electronic stuff with Ableton last year but ended up just playing games  :lol. Actually sold my Yamaha HS 80 a couple weeks ago because I was short on money  :-\

Ugh, don't talk about that. I sold my audio interface a while ago and haven't replaced it since (a new GPU has precedent right now). Now I have nothing to plug my bass in. Pressing the body against a table is the only amplification I have. It'll do, I suck anyway. ._.

i picked up a focusrite scarlett a couple of months back. performs like a champ.

if you press your ear up to the back of your bass, it kinda sounds like a really crappy amp.

Funny, the one I sold was a Focusrite Scarlett as well. Good kit.

It also sounds like major neck pain. :c

On my current recording computer (the one I'm replacing) I have some crappy emachines monitor with two nice event 2020p monitors on the sides. I need to buy a new screen, but that'll come a little later. I'll probably use the second one as a dual screen set up.

I have a saffire pro 24 firewire external card already, so I didn't buy a new soundcard.

The build I did is:
16 GB ram
i5 4430 quad core 3.0 ghz
windows 7 64 bit
aerocool ds miniatx case

I wanted a small form factor case, which cost me a little more than I'd been anticipating to pay. Pictures will come when all of my stuff arrives and I build it Wednesday. I want it all now :( Even amazon prime isn't fast enough.
ok.

audio/music recording. I was using a very poorly aging mac g5 tower. After crashing twice while trying to record some tracks due to lack of ram, I said screw it and went all out.
ok.
