Really enjoyed Before Midnight, Fast and Furious 6, and Gravity.  So far, at least.  Missed a bunch I expect to like, and there's still some good stuff this month. 

seriously, though, Last Vegas or Grudge Match are the best movies this year.  Robert De Niro is finally coming into his own as an actor.

Haven't seen anything not dumb and violent and I had fun to varying degrees with Star Trek, Pacific Rim, Man of Steel, and Wolverine.  But with The World's End I was able to enjoy the movie wholly without grading on the summer movie curve.

I'm actually surprised I managed to see as many films as I did in the theater this year. Used to go every Friday, but not any more with Lil' Gundam...

I missed all of the big run films.  Most of my movie going experiences were to Chinese / Korean first run theaters showing in Times Square or to retrospectives at MoMA and Lincoln Center.  Most of my first run mainstream stuff will wait until Blu Ray or Netflix or something similar because the cost is ridiculous here.

I did the math and my discount and free films basically paid for my membership to Lincoln Center, so I'll definitely be doing that for this coming year.  I may also do the same for Anthology Film Archives who had a ton of great weird stuff this year.

Ah, shit. While I haven't seen The World's End yet, I *did* see This is the End after it released on dvd and thought it was funny as fuck. Easily Channing Tatum's best performance to date.

There's a brief moment when the director plays a brief moment, almost snatched, from one of many aspic(thought aspic) moments.

Aspic is worth knowing about, as we are just space aspic. Our aspirations, and normality suspended, to preserve the core idea. Which is either lamb shank, or The Business.

PacRim honestly wasn't that amazing, but it was a good movie. Good pacing, humor, music, action, characters, acting (aside from Mariko who was absolutely horrible.) Saw it twice in IMAX 3D. I stand up for it because it's one of the few completely original action-blockbusters.

Eh, Pacific Rim was a lot of fun. It's anime and monster movies in a slick presentation. It has no love story, so bonus points for that. Del Toro gave us yet another fantastic marketplace scene. BrandNew doesn't know how to have fun.

Pacific Rim delivered on it's promise of giant robots fighting giant monsters.  How much you liked the movie depends on how much you like those two things.
