Fuck this franchise really if true.

Of all the post apocalyptic locations it has to be boring usa again.

Give me Japan, China, Russia, South East Asia, Central Europe, Scandinavia... Something else ffs!

I will not explore the us wasteland for the 5th time.

Part of the point of the Fallout series is satirizing the 40s and 50s atomic age and the American way of life and attitudes during that era (even though it's set in the future). Don't know if that type of humor would play as well set in other countries.

Its not like socialist russia wouldnt have had just as iconic (hate hate that word) settings and humour tied to socialism. Same could be said for wacky 80/90's japan.

Fallout has become more boring the GTA now.

I think what's worse than being in the US is doing a location so similar to DC. Fallout 3 was already full of the origins of America/Fall of America crap. You just know Boston is going to have that too as it's THE American town. I just don't know why they didn't choose a different area like I don't know, New York or Seattle, Dallas (or Houston), or Chicago or something. Why Boston? You just know many of the themes and storylines be repetitive and reused from Fallout 3.

The south seemed like an obvious one to me following DC and Vegas. Texas or New York, like himu mentioned, are also good ones that are identifiably different but still fit the americana style of fallout.

Also, what about Hawaii?

Hawaii is a great suggestion too.

But it would still be us culture only :/ so in the end it would be pretty much the same except for skins.

Well, it's been the crux of my argument this entire time. My main problem is the location. It feels so redundant. I know DC and Boston are TOTALLY different, but at the same time, they share so many similarities. For one, Boston is what I think of when I think of THE American city. Sure, there were other ones in the 1700's, but Boston is the one I think of immediately when I put something on that time period. I know just that they'll put stuff about the Boston Tea party in there. It's not that I don't dislike Fallout - I fucking love Fallout - but if you're going to follow up a game, put the sequel in a location that isn't really, really fucking similar.

Fallout 3 was good, skyrim was kind of boring (gameplay and story, not the setting which was ace)

Sleeping Dogs worked because they basically just ripped off every HK crime movie ever made, Bethesda would either have to put in a ton of money/effort or mess the whole thing up royally by trying to fake their way through it.

I find it kinda odd to not care about setting in a game like 3d Fallout. It isn't like the combat or gameplay is good. So writing, quests, and setting is all it's going to have for it.

it felt like they tried with the guild questlines, but they were still boring as shit. the ugly fixed camera and spergy "list of questions" mode of conversation REALLY hold back interactions in their games tho

Thy have been using the same level editor for a decade now, and with this being in Boooston they can reuse 90% of the textures too!

I didn't like New Vegas much, maybe I was burned out on Fallout already but it was just more of the same, plus it wasn't as tight as 3. I quit NV once I got to the Roman guys at the river cause I had some Obsidian glitch there.
