Flying's fine btw and it's also super safe so don't worry.

If you really want to learn to enjoy flying, find a way to fly business class.  I always hated flying, but after I tried business class last year, if I can swing that I actually look forward to the flight since it's totally relaxing, lots of space, just some chill time to play videogames/watch movies/read/eat in comfort while drinking wine and eating tasty meals.  Goes to show it's not the flying itself that's miserable, it's being stuck in economy that sucks.

Maybe I'll get a beer during my hour layover in Dallas.

Got a bunch of comics, Star Trek 4-6, latest Mr Robot and Half in the Bag downloaded. Plus my 3DS. Hopefully I can entertain myself...

Hmm hard to say with layovers. 5 hours I think?

I've been to Santa Monica in 2011 for a job interview and then San Francisco in 2013 for Google I/O. This is my third trip flying.

It's been just long enough since my last flight that I've forgotten how shit works haha. But I'm in my seat now awaiting takeoff.

Make sure to pop your ears and try to sleep. For me, worrying about crashing is what is the worst part about flying.

Well that and being on my feet for like 48 or 72 hours last time I flew basically gave me a bad pain for the 2-3 hour flight on the way home.

Too late breh, was already having PTSD flashbacks to this.

Thankfully we've been in the air for almost two hours so it isn't exactly like that. If we do blow up, welp. Hopefully I get in some skydiving before I go.

Based on train accidents over the past twenty years, your chances of dying on a transcontinental train journey are one in a million. Those are great odds, mind you. But flying coast-to-coast is ten times safer than making the trip by train.

Hmm I do take a train to and from CT every month.

Although I have gotten in two train "accidents" in the last 4.5 years of doing so, but of course neither was fatal. An airplane accident? Pretty sure that's always fatal... Unless your pilot is Tom Hanks or Denzel Washington.

As we move towards the second half of 2016, it's shaping out to be one of the safest years in recent aviation history.
"We are ahead of the 10-year average with eight accidents and 167 fatalities compared to the average of 10 accidents and 205 fatalities," aviation expert Geoffrey Thomas, editor of Airlineratings.com, told CNN.

Hmm, sounds to me like we're overdue... :doge

I have successfully checked in at Bally's and am chilling in my hotel room. My body thinks it's 9pm and I've been awake since 6am so I'm contemplating passing out now and getting dinner downstairs in like five hours (it's 6pm local time.)  :zzz

Also I bought a shitty bottle of Barefoot on my way up but forgot to also buy a corkscrew, goddamnit. I though Barefoot was shitty enough to use a twist off. :maf

Saw there's an In-n-Out here which I should probably get it over with.

Planning to do a little exploring tomorrow (and a lot of pool lounging) before bebps and Kara arrive. We're going to the Sage Absinthe bar :rock

Tasty, if you have a bad feeling about the flight don't board. There are theories that people have a precog psychic sense for disastrous events. The average occupancy level of flights that crash is 56% while the average flight occupancy is 71%. The average #of no shows is 3 and the average number of cancellations is 5 across flights. But the average number of no shows and cancellations across crashed flights is 16 and 8 respectively.

So if you get a bad feeling, listen to it.

Expedia says it was 10am EDT to 3:44pm PDT, so about 8:44 overall including the hour-ish layover in Dallas.

My flight back is apparently 12:30pm PDT to 11:17pm EDT, so.... a little less than 8 hours there, which should be nice. Getting in at 11:17 is kinda sucky haha but I can still catch the Red Line to my apt. And I took the next day off from work anyways just to have a three day weekend to recover. :)
