Is there any way to download previously purchased PC games?

Microsoft website says I could but the client won't let me connect, probably because it's already been disconnected.

Last post in the thread is recent and suggests basically wiping all possible traces of GFWLM and starting over.

If these games use GFWL to validate, whats it matter to re-download if it cant authenticate? I bought Viva for $0.99 I believe, but no point in playing if I cant upload my achievements from it.
