Hey don't get down on yourself about this. You're looking at a long road ahead of you of both recovery and emotional stress. Lets not get off on the wrong foot going forward. You are a strong person I know you to be that person and you are that person. You just have to believe that things will get better, maybe not today but tomorrow or the day after that or a week or a month or a year. It's a long road, but we'll all be here to cheer you up and when you feel down we'll be here to get those spirits back up.

You'll be fine. You're alive, so you're already on the winning side of the curve, where bicycle vs. pickup accidents ending with ambulances are concerned.

Your scar will end up being sexy, but you can also think about including cosmetic surgery to your overall recovery bill, depending on the guy's insurance coverage.

Do not make any deals with his insurance company without talking to a lawyer first. They will fuck you three ways from sunday before giving you anything approaching a reasonable settlement.

Leaving the hospital so early was really scary and I think it amplified my stress to absurd levels. It didn't feel great to have all this bad news hit me at once.

I'm calmed down now, at my friends' house all tucked in and getting my perscriptions filled. Thanks for the support as always, guys. I just still can't believe this really happened to me. It's wave after wave of shock, and I'm quite ready for the day to be over.

Hair doesn't grow back on scars but you can get get a graft done on the area. I had a scar from a jaw surgery that left a bald strip in my beard and they grafted some hair onto it.

Hair grafts onto scarred or burned skin are also covered by insurance.

The hospital found my clothes

Feeling a lot better this morning. Swelling feels like it's gone down and I got decent rest last night. Had a nice little chat with my host, Amanda, and we're both just in awe of my situation. She offered to get anything I might need from my dad's house so that she could have the opportunity to scold the living shit out of him, and that made me smile

Oh, and I'm gettin' over the hair thing. Always wanted to try the punk-rock look anyways

Don't worry too much about the hair. It sucks now but they can do a lot if it doesn't come back right. When I was little, my sis had a car crash and head injury, so she didn't have much hair for awhile, but it all came back. It was scary at the time because I was 6 and hair was really really important, and hers was so fabulous, but looking back, it was the early 90s and that big hair needed to go anyway.

I think what made it so hard at first is that this is the longest my hair's ever been and I was so totally in love with the way it looked and felt. But like y'all are saying, it's just hair. There a lot of ways to wear it, and yeah there are procedures I could do if I wanna go down that road but right now I just wanna wait and see. Got the police report. Dude was uninsured, wasn't even his car. He pretended to be a witness when the police arrived, left, and was caught again when his car ran out of gas on the side of the road where he finally fessed up after the officer noticed damage to the car.

I also got to see the plastic surgeon today and removed some of the sutures. I can finally wash my head, too

fuck... this is the worst possible outcome for legal reasons. Don't get discouraged though you should still press on with finding a lawyer and getting some representation. Were the cops at all helpful in telling you what you should do next since he was being held on a felony hit and run? I'm still surprised it was only a 50k bond for something like that.
