The lack of backwards compability really sucks sony
« on: January 16, 2014, 07:09:47 PM »
What a missed opportunity. There are several PS3 games I still want to buy and that is stopping me from getting a PS4 at this moment. FF13-3, Tales of Xillia 2, Tales of Zesteria and Persona 5.

Yeah but the PS3 had a insane shitty architecture so I can understand them bailing on it in this fashion. Do you think they could've launched at 400 with bc included?

No, he has a ps3, but he has no reason to get a ps4 because there's still ps3 games he wants.

PS3 lineup does shit all over announced 2014 PS4 lineup imo. No tears on my end for not "upgrading" at launch.

exactly. And I rather get rid of my PS3 and play these games on a new shiny PS4. But I guess I have to hold onto my old PS3 for 1-2 more years.

Name me one system, aside from Dreamcast and maybe snes or nes, that was worth getting, before it was 2-3 years old. I can't think of a single one.

Why are you in such a rush to buy a new system? New hardware never brings out the good games until like 2-3 years into the new generation. It's always been like this.

yeah, it doesn't seem like people care and give these companies a reason to.  but I wish that wasn't the case.  I'd rather be playing yazuka 3 on my ps4, even if all it means is a different controller.

and I'm guessing HD ports are more lucrative than backwards compatibility

-SMS
-ED
-Metroid Prime

within one year after GC launch.

The Wii was a good year one system, though it's easy to see why.  Some handhelds fare well, too.  GBA, PSP, and Neo Geo Pocket all were great out of the gate.

PSP had a great launch, gba had a solid one as well. Portables are definitely the better example. But consoles? Ehhhh.

REmake is great. But the game is too oppressive for me to want to play multiple times.

heh, maybe you thought of Wind Waker which slipped to a 2003 release date in North America.

edit: on that note, I have no idea why Nintendo released Zelda WW in the month of march  ::)

Yeah this was one of two main reasons why I didn't jump on the console launch bandwagon like I usually do. Usually I just trade in my system and jump to the next one. The other reason being no interesting looking games for me whatsoever. All the games I want are popping up on the PC in some form anyways. This has got to be the most uninteresting console generational leap so far for me.

It had metal gear acid and lumines at launch and that was all anyone should have needed.
