This game is loads of fun. Tug of war between two players, fencing and punching and kicking each other while scrabbling across varied terrain, trying to reach the other's end zone. It's $14.99 on Steam right now. Anyone else playing it?

Giant Bomb had a fun quick look of it.

Game seems cool. I know this is going to make me sound like a dick though but I can't pay that price for a game like this. I'll pick it up on cheap sale on steam in the future.

To me it just looks like a Prince of Persia inspired mess. I was surprised to see it review so well.

Edit: Or am I thinking of the original Sid Meier's Pirates combat?

I think its look like a fun mindless simple little arcade game that would be really fun in smallish doses.

Pretty much the same way I feel about something like Divekick.

It look like somewhere between smash bros and divekick.  Closer to smash though imo.

I remember going to Babycastles (an experimental indie arcade they used to have in NYC) once or twice and seeing this game there, that was some 3-4 years ago. I'm guessing that was a prototype or something... and now the game is finally released?

I played this at GDC back in 2010 I think, it was an amazing drunken party game

There's a reason I found a drinking-related video to showcase it. It does seem like some imbibing would add to the fun here.

Related: I am not nearly so excited about playing this on the internet against randoms, as I am about playing locally with a physically present opponent.

Cloud level is poop, agreed; though there may be something to be said for more tactical use of terrain. I have only played there twice, and didn't enjoy the unstable ground and obscured visuals. Kinda like the tall grass in the forest level, in contrast.

I don't mind the disappearing clouds, but the backgrounds do my head in.

I really enjoyed the time I had playing this but it still needs some polishing up in the online area. About half of the matches I had resulted in buggy matches where hits and kills weren't being detected and players sprites quickly jumping around in the screen. The cloud stage also needs some color tweaking as it sometimes can obscure the player sprites.

Also even though the game is intentionally limited, the game is really barebones. There should be at least some more stage variety here than the 4 or 5 stages they already have. It shouldn't take that long to come up with several new stage designs with the limited pixel art and color schemes they're using.

So it's basically a fleshed out Urban Champion?
