when you say 10 hours to 100%, do you mean one playthrough? or is it unlike the other games where play it twice to 100% (one good, one evil)?

I don't think they talked about having that good/evil system in this one. That was something I liked about the other two. Blue/good powers are about precision and control, Red/evil powers are about blowing shit up.

To be fair, isn't it the same with Xbone. What great exclusive is on the Horizon after Titanfall? Though you may get more miliage on the road to the next exclusive with that game.

i feel like this game is going through the same hype cycle as killzone did, heralded as the pre-emptive game of the generation with the only footage coming out of one very polished section of the game.

i wonder if it can deliver the same level of mediocrity?

the other two infamous games were like c-tier games on the sony totem. with nothing else (exclusive) out until the second half of the year, I assume it's getting more exposure from both the overly positive and cynical camps. the other two came out during uncharted years and people weren't compelled to care.

and tbh they haven't been showing the game well at all. at times I'd recognize what I enjoyed about the other two, but the demos are played in the dullest ways. It'd be like seeing a titanfall demo where a guy hides behind a wall, peaks out to fire a shot, and gets back into cover. maybe they dialed back what you can do in this new one, like I don't think they've shown the new guy scaling a building yet.

We're very close to the reveal and they haven't done any coverage in lieu of previous games at all. Usually we'd get more info about the systems, powers, zones, gangs (or their equivalent), more story trailers, etc. Whereas here they've been recycling the same story and gameplay trailers over and over since the reveal.

I smell a bomb or a delay.

I like the inFamous games okay. Enjoyed the first, kinda lost interest in the second towards the end, liked the DLC vampire one a lot. If this one is rushed and incomplete (lack of side quests, etc), that's disappointing. I was looking forward to it.

these are such weird arguments to observe.

i generally check the steam new releases every week or so and there's always a couple of new games that i think "huh, neat, i should check that out on sale sometime" and mobile devices are this vast undiscovered ocean of endless titles i've never heard of. i mean, just this week alone there's stuff like strike vector, broken age and the castle doctrine.

this isn't supposed to be some PC HURRR post as much is it utter confusion at just how anaemic the console line ups are. there is so much good x86/directx/opengl coded shit floating around and a cool 7 million next gen customers dying to spend money on whatever gets served up to them. who's dropping the ball here, the devs/publishers or the platform owners?

it can't be a high standards thing given how slapdash the PS4 ports of contrast, warframe and blacklight are. can you imagine how much free publicity something like this:

would get from proprietary zealots if it were to come out on either console?

I don't think the videos have done that one justice. You've gotta see it with your own eyes. I think the work they did on all of the powers is actually pretty damn fantastic.

really? the demo i played was probably about on a par with knack on the snoozefest scale. i don't really understand why it exists. either go all out on the gearhead car porn like GT/forza or make something completely divorced from reality. a thisgen wipeout, or any new IP which actually let the designers/artists show a little invention beyond new and irritating ways to integrate twitter/paint dashboards, could've been a real bullet point. the whole thing just seems so devoid of creativity or life.

whatever you do, if it's a racing game, keep the damn framerate at 60.

how does it compare with the PGR series? those nailed the balance of arcade and simulation. I've been looking forward to it because people have made that comparison before. and if you played a recent version, were there any city tracks?

I think that maybe the console makers are right about something this gen- content is largely going to be the same, so structural differences are going to matter, whether it be the Xbone's kinect UI or the fact that the PS4 is $100 cheaper.

I have a PS4, but I can't justify it at all. There's absolutely nothing out for it that I can't get on my PC that'll play it better. I'll probably end up checking out Second Son just because, as I've never played an Infamous game before.

That new trailer is the closest this game has come to looking fun. Those smoke/fire powers look like the most unimaginative shit ever. The neon ones looked pretty cool however. I still think it looks like ass overall, but it might be worth picking up for 5 bucks a couple of years from now

Plus it's not like Infamous games are getting GTAV 100 million budgets. When you're an open-world game, you're gonna look like that unless you've got the budget to add extra detail to every little inch of the world. I give Mafia II credit though for looking phenomenal on probably a modest AAA budget.

Though Infamous SS dudes could use some AF, but apparently PS4 struggles with AF and forever of not having AF in console games makes devs think it's not a particularly high priority to have the ground and walls in a distance not be a blur.

That being said, I think that pic actually looks quite nice outside the lack of AF and some shimmering from lack of AA (IQ issues). The textures are good and pretty varied, geometry looks solid, character models for NPC look like human beings and not blocky low-poly NPCs. It's got some color to it and the rain problem looks nice in motion. Background is blurred but it's a depth of field effect that probably looks good when you play it.

Big step from Infamous 2 imo
