Infamous Second Son That HOT PS4 Title!

hehehe, well it's only fair to compare a competent developer on new hardware with their last work on weaker hardware


Plus it's not like Infamous games are getting GTAV 100 million budgets.  When you're an open-world game, you're gonna look like that unless you've got the budget to add extra detail to every little inch of the world.  I give Mafia II credit though for looking phenomenal on probably a modest AAA budget.


Though Infamous SS dudes could use some AF, but apparently PS4 struggles with AF and forever of not having AF in console games makes devs think it's not a particularly high priority to have the ground and walls in a distance not be a blur.

yeah, I expected infamous 2 to adopt the look of infamous 1's comic cutscenes.  darkness 2 and the 'amazing' sections of spider-man shattered dimensions hit a nice balance between toon and realistic.  or even something like borderlands 2.

and the weirdest graphiacl omission/limitation of infamous second son are the shadows.  e3 footage had shadows.  more recent footage doesn't seem to have shadows.  granted they're different times of day, but none of the lights or neon or w/e are creating shadows at night.

Mafia 1 is still one of the greatest games of all time, sucks how much mafia 2 dissapointed. still a great game but

Loved Mafia 2 for whatever reason. The city did have a lot of detail. It did'nt add up to anything, but whatever. I just wanted to shoot a tommy gun while wearing a long coat  and the game gave me that.

Yeah, I liked it, too. I appreciated the effort to nail the period feel of the city, even though there was nothing to do in it outside story missions.

Same. Actually driving through a believable city felt good, despite the fact that there was no reason to explore any of it outside the plot paths. Just like LA Noire.
It couldn't have cost them that much, considering it was made in the Czech Republic, but they probably went over budget and then underperformed, so it made no difference.

I like the way the mafia games treat their open worlds like sets.  structurally both are level to level games instead of a bunch of missions and minigames.

otherwise, yeah, it might be better to hold off if you're unsure.  I really like the infamous games, but I know some people here don't.  The series seems pretty divisive.

I figure everyone has infamous 1 as part of the psn hack, but I still recommend the demo because it places you in a mid game mission with a bunch of powers.
