I admit, that if I were still 7-10 years old and Sonic obsessed, I'd want this shit bad. But I don't think it'll coax a lot of kids into wanting Wii U's. Shame Sega has that deal with Nintendo. This needs to be on systems people actually play so they can make money.

Sonic himself kind of looks alright here

Some diabolical ground texture work in other screens, reminds me of racing games where the devs just figure you'll be zipping by too fast to notice.

I know they're saying the cartoon look won't carry over into the main series, but I still think its pretty bold and ballsy. Can you imagine Nintendo or Disney fucking around radically with Mario or Mickey proportions?

All of this has got people digging out some nice classic art, like this style guide too

I like the way you can make out simple geometric shapes in the old style characters. They look a little more timeless and you can imagine how logically they drew newer characters like Metal Sonic and Amy etc. This Sonic Boom style is totally different, anything goes

Depends on what era of Sega you identify with... Genesis and Dreamcast had a sizable western library (sports games, action platformers) but Saturn was a really Japanese/import focused platform. I'm sure a lot of Sega stans took the route I did and begrudgingly picked up a PS2 (and end up loving that anyway).
