Did anyone care about the garbage Harmonix put out post-Beatles Rock Band? Let's be honest.
If you're saying following up
RBB with
RB Green Day was a misstep, I agree. There HAD to be a better band with more mainstream appeal than Green Day. Sadly, Led Zeppelin is uncooperative, and in contrast The Who and Rolling Stones have been so cooperative that most of their charted songs are already available in the game as DLC. The Red Hot Chili Peppers were apparently under an exclusivity contract with Activision for Guitar Hero, but that didn't pan out.
I liked
Rock Band Blitz; it was a creative way to let people use their existing DLC in an entirely new way. It's the first Harmonix game I managed to fully complete for Gamerscore, as well.
Dance Central is the most fun, best performing game for Kinect, and MS should have co-opted the menu conventions from it into their own Kinect Guide UX.
There are plenty of reasons to think Harmonix will have trouble selling
Chroma on their own, not least among them that the video only listed system is Steam, a platform where their name bears no currency.
