OK I take it back! It's a cool game but I totally expected way better then what I got from reading the thread. This is the most South Park thing ever and that is awesome but fucking hell the gameplay completely sucks. Combat is tedious and are there any new jokes? I'm already bored of running around the town, lol.

Performance is pretty shit too but that might be a PS3 only thing? Not joking, literally every single time the auto-save pops up the game stutters badly. It auto-saves every time you enter a new area so I've already gotten used to waiting a few seconds before being able to play. I assume it's related to saving/loading at the same time from the HDD. My system is from 2009 and nearly full so the HDD might be needing a good optimizing.

How is combat tedious?  Battles don't last more than 1 turn usually, 2 at most.  Meanwhile you can avoid most battles through pre-battle puzzles like interacting with an environment to cause the enemies to get electrocuted and bypass a battle.  Plus you don't need to grind because you hit max level hours before the end of the game.

If you're finding it tedious, I'm wondering if you're missing something as to how the combat works.

Lack of AOE can make it drag at times I think. As a fighter at least.

Oh no, I get how the combat works. Unlike you I'm finding this game piss easy and as a result it's boring and tedious for me. I mean it's the same basic actions to go through every single fight with very little change up on how the enemies attack. Sure they do status effects but that's nothing my unlimited supply of money and items can't fix. Plus I'm a fighter so I pulverize everything in my way and what I can't kill I have my ally demolish with their special attacks. So yeah, battles do last just one or two rounds at most for me.

I'm finding everything but the gameplay to be awesome. It's just unfortunate I need to slog through a terrible RPG to enjoy a really well crafted love letter to South Park*.

BUT I will say that I think it's really cool that they're making an RPG for casuals and fans of the show. I can bitch about the gameplay since I'm voicing my opinion but really Obsidian probably made the right choice considering the target market so I can't say I disagree with what they've done. And I'm just hating on the gameplay here so before I get anyone's panties in a bunch I think everything else about the game is pretty solid.

* Seriously though, are there any new jokes? Everything here is recycled content and while I find it amusing it's all shit I've seen before.

I am well aware of the irony that a guy who has a dragon quest name/icon is complaining about tedious combat.

I started playing this too (just beat the HS area), and my one big problem is the performance too, like Mr. Slime Appears. The load times are bad, the game stutters like hell on a new area load, and I've had 2 lockups already and one graphical glitch where the map was colored blue. Also I'm not a fan of all the collecta-thoning... a lot of the quests seem to be "find these flags", "find the Chinpokomon", "fight these bums"... the game's a lot like how I'd expect a Ubisoft take on Paper Mario to be.

It's a great love letter to the show though, tons of little in jokes and references of obscure minutia.

Maaaaaaaaan, I still hold out hope that one day they'll put out a game that has very few to little bugs and runs great. ONE DAY.

Alpha Protocol ran fine. Only saw some visual glitches. But they also had Sega push it back 6 months or so...

Performance issues might be relegated to just PS3. HDD caching and optimization is fucking abysmal on that system so I'm not surprised. :-\

It crashed a few times for me on PC but it didn't seem that atypical performance wise at least on that platform.
