I hope I can activate this game and download it instead of installing from the DVD. If I have to install via DVD it's going to take forever. :noah

The sidequests in this game are so dumb. "Knockdown" the bad guys, breh. Oh, but they're surrounded by 20 dudes with AK-47s, feel free to kill all of them. I wonder who thought that would be fun.

Oh yeah, it was the people that made Assassin's Creed.  :neogaf

Behold the power of hype.  I have a feeling the legs are going to be shit, but with upfront sales like that, it doesn't matter that much.

over / under on Destiny enjoying a similar level of hype powered sales? I'm thinking with Activision backing it'll be huge, but y'never know, it could all dampen off like Titanfall hype

Not ruling out the possibility of Destiny actually being cool though

I haven't yet played the game thanks to GameFly's fantastic service but I had a crazy opinion that was curious if it was true. Based off screen shots and video; GTA5 just seems like a better looking game to me. Obviously it can't match the technical fidelity of Watch Dogs but there's something about the art style and Rockstar's design direction that makes that game more visually interesting to me than Watch Dogs on PS4/ONE. I guess I'm a sucker for attention to detail.

That's my plan! Most likely $15 Black Friday fodder.

The art style and design is definitely far superior in GTA. You get a sense of being in a place in GTA 5 as you move across the world and city. Watchdogs has that Assassin's Creed feeling of being in a very constructed videogame "world".

Reminds me of police chase mode from Driver. I would always pick the San Francisco map for this exact reason.

The whole time I played it I kept thinking "This probably would have been a decent game back in 2010."

Ubisoft's real-time bullshot generator:

Peeps have been poking around in the game files, trying to get it back to that E3 2012 look. Seems to be going pretty well so far.
http://forums.guru3d.com/showthread.php?t=390114

I played around with it a little bit this morning, and right now the LOD is borked to hell, but you can turn it off and they said they're fixing it. It's still a WIP.

WOW, those changes really does make it look great. Wish the engine was optimized enough for it to run like that on next-gen. :'(

This tickled me.

Quote
Watch Dogs is a great game built by a huge team of very talented people. But it’s not perfect, and we can’t be arsed with it any more. Here’s why the VG247 crew has moved on.

The writer then goes to essentially say the following over 3 pages.

The hacking is a gimmick.
It's too long and padded.
The city is boring.
The driving sucks
The graphics are underwhelming
It's really buggy.
The PC version sucks.
It's a bit racist.
The lead character sucks.
The story sucks.
The voice acting sucks.

So why is this a "great" title again?

That's just the reviewer habit of trying to be 'fair' to both sides, only to end up looking like they have no confidence in their opinions. You can't just say what you think, because this is product evaluation or top down quality assurance, so a well made and polished turd is still well made and polished. So, don't be too harsh, they might pull access. At least acknowledge the budget. After all, the developer has (tried to) check these here quality boxes.
This is felt more acutely the more expensive a title is/looks, how many assurances were made during previews and other events that this and that is going to be fixed, how bad the crunch was, bonuses tied to metacritic ratings, what other reviewers think/say, etc. etc.

And hey, some readers might even lilke it the way it is, despite of whatever perceived faults it has, so there's your out right there.

I'm glad I did buy it physical. Traded that crap in and got Fire Emblem and Dragons Crown for Vita!

Oh no...Dragon's Crown is the free Vita game on PS Plus this month. It's a nice game too.

John Shirley, arguably the father of cyperpunk, wrote a tie-in novel for Watch_Dogs. Wow.

Sadly, the only review so far is a 1-star idiot complaining about how its Kindle functions don't support his preferred orientation. Pfeh.

I was hoping they'd deep discount it during the Steam sale (unrealistic I know) but -20% is just  :lol Ubisoft.
