Stats split. Nothing majorly ground-breakingly-shocking but they changed a few.

it's a more difficult game in the beginning and easier towards the back half, adaptability is a very important stat and worth putting points in early on. otherwise a lot of what you learned in the first game translates unchanged to the second. upgrading a vanilla weapon/consider one or two ranged spells/make sure to exhaust all NPC dialog, etc. and it's worth mentioning that in order to complete some of the NPC sidequests this time around you are required to summon them for the boss fights that they're available for and make sure they survive the ordeal.

You're definitely in a minority, there. I found it to be not quite as good as DS1, although part of that was because it's just reiterating on the same formula, but in virtually every category it was, at worst, only lagging behind a very little bit.

man I know a lot of people that really felt the hurt on that boss fight but for some reason I breezed through it. I died more in the actual Lost Bastille than in that boss fight.
