So, not to humblebrag or whatever, but apparently when you're good at your job and figure out ways to make the company run smoother, they want to keep you.
I'm about to graduate in May with an associate's (2 year) degree in Accounting. My boss at my current job has offered me about 4-5k more a year than I could make in an entry position with this degree, with some added responsibilities n shit of course. The good part is that those responsibilities are all stuff that I like about this job (admin/accounting stuff) and not the bad shit (dealing with idiots).
The good parts about this offer:
-I wouldn't have to go find a new job, which I'm shit at anyway
-Work from home 100% of the time
-Can work anywhere there's a good internet connection- if I want to move somewhere I can
-Which would let me continue to not give a shit about how I look- aka neckbeard4lyfe
-the pay, as mentioned above. Also, in the 3+ years I've been here, we've gotten a raise every six months, and when our business spiked last year he spread the increase in profits around to the staff. We get nice bonuses every holiday season and whenever we have a record month (happened 5 times last year, about to happen this year for the first time) and I would be getting bigger slices of that, too
-I'd only be working 4 scheduled shifts each week, then doing about 10-12 off shift hours of admin stuff
Bad parts:
-Would have to work at least one weekend shift
-Job is fucking weird and doesn't really translate well if I do ever decide to move on. "Says here you spent 6 years fucking around on the internet. How'd that work?"
-It's fucking nerdy as shit, the customers are fucktards, etc
-Is it really a good idea for me to minimize my interaction with people in meat space? Probably. I will be back in Atlanta soon and around friends, so I can socialize with people I do like. I dunno.
-Have to keep up with my own taxes, have to provide my own insurance
Now give me feedback I'll almost certainly ignore. I'm leaning yes.
