On April 1st, Rifftrax is hosting a 3 hour April Fool's Day marathon of nature documentary riffing.

And, if you need something to chew on in the meantime:

I wouldn't disagree with that, but I do still find most of their stuff pretty funny.

But then, I also find this pretty funny.

"Hey, you know what our Super Mario Bros movie needs? A cheesy power ballad by Roxette!"  :heh

The husband and wife director team wanted to do a serious cyberpunk movie. The producers wanted a lighthearted fairy tail for kids. So, they compromised and made a goofy cyberpunk fairy tale for kids.

Guy 1:
"Hey, I just watched Blade Runner and the tv show Dinosaurs, let's take these two things and smash them together at 100mph and masturbate to the mangled wreckage like in David Cronenberg's Crash."

Guy 2:
"Then maybe we could check out the videogames for some ideas?"

Look when somebody says "I want to make a movie based on a kids videogame" the first thing that comes to mind is "get me the guys who did Max Headroom."

Watched the whole thing. It's entertaining if you enjoy production design wankery. I can't say I cared about any of the characters, with the possible exception of Koopa's hot mistress  :'(

You have to put yourself in an early 90s film industry mindset - videogames = digital = Max Headroom
