I wonder what they'll add for a Playset. I was disappointed that Frozen had a full, Playset-style blister pack, but was actually just a world builder skybox for its additional piece.

The video you posted also states version "2.0" -- any idea what they'll be adding?

EXCITING!

Is this a whole new game, or does it work with the existing stuff?

From what I understand, it will be a new game. But the figures and power discs will be both forward AND backward compatible. Not sure how that works though.

It means they haven't changed their data format, or that it was future-proofed enough that the changes are safe, and that they would rather sell you another $60 game rather than just $18 dollar figures and $40 Playsets.

Badass.

Except she would'a just outright killed that poor thief if she'd had that instead of a frying pan.

You can already get a lightsaber in Disney Infinity 1.0. You just have to get every figure to level one and then it unlocks in the Hall of Heroes.

That's a neat gimme, but SHIT HOWDY, you have to have ALL the freakin' figures? Yeah, that won't be happening for me.

I imagine a lot of people just swap figures among friends to get all the statues to level one.

You'd have to reset the figure's chip and take ownership for it to show up in the Infinity arena. We had some early problems where figures registered to my son's non-XBL account, but 2P doesn't get any progress or Achievements (or didn't at the time). I had to reset the figure and take ownership, which meant starting the figure over with zero XP (sparks).

Whole bunch of figures have been revealed

Code: [Select]
(from left to right): Iron Fist, Drax the Destroyer, Nick Fury, Captain America, Hawkeye, Black Widow, Hulk, Rocket Raccoon, Venom, Gamora, Groot, Star-Lord, Spiderman, Thor, Iron Man, and Nova.
Iron Fist is a strange choice, I would have gone with Daredevil if they wanted another street level hero.

Iron Fist is likely up for a movie treatment, or TV treatment soon. Affleck managed to kill Daredevil's brand -- or is Daredevil locked up in someone else's movie contract, like Spider-Man?

Or maybe they didn't want to have to implement a blank, black screen whenever a player places his Infinity figure on the dais?

The Netflix series are for Daredevil, Iron Fist, Luke Cage, and Jessica Jones. Each one will get their own series, then join together in a Defenders miniseries. Daredevil's series is supposed to be the first one, I don't think the others have started production yet.

I think the reason they have Iron Fist is because he's in the garbage Ultimate Spider-Man cartoon, I forgot that existed. So get set for a sufer-dude Iron Fist.  :-\

Unlikely; the Iron Fist which is popular right now, isn't that Matt Fraction's writing? I'm half-asleep and can't be bothered to google, but apparently Iron Fist's current run is the best it's ever been.

Also, re: Spider-Man figure, I'm worried it'll just be the same stretch-and-grab power Ms. Incredible has been sporting.  :-\

http://www.forbes.com/sites/andyrobertson/2014/06/17/disney-infinity-2-0-venom-merida-maleficent/

This article and the videos in it go pretty in depth to some of the new stuff.

-"perma"-death while playing playsets (time delayed respawn where you have to switch to a new figure)
-Webslinging and flying look pretty fun, but a little floaty
-The procedurally generated toybox stuff looks pretty cool, you drag and drop the dimensions you want and it builds structures out to the sizes you specified. Looked pretty neat
-No more Toy Spinner to randomly win toys, now you just straight up choose the toys you want and "purchase" them with the sparks you earn from playing the game

Nice. The toy spinner is a load of crap; I liked the "gachapon" scattered throughout the world, but spending hard-won Stars on a 1-in-16 chance to get something onscreen was tiring and frustrating.

It looks like they're adding malificent and the redhead from brave as well.

Any idea what the motorcycle in the trailer is from?

It's Darkwing Duck's motorcycle. And the cat guns are from Gravity Falls? I've never seen that show.

my favorite item was the Bedknobs and Broomsticks bed you could fly around on. :lawd

There's a "pop-up store" at SDCC this year. Anyone know if it will feature a con exclusive?

Hm.

I'm happy that they committed to an actual PlaySet to go with it, unlike Frozen's two-pack with disc, but I'm not sure if that toy commercial made me less excited for the movie or not.

Also, was that Clancy Brown as the bad guy's voice, or someone doing an imitation of Clancy Brown?
