Pax is coming to Texas and it's in San Antonio?

This is like putting PAX in Maryland and it's in Baltimore. Or New York state and it's in Rochester.

Put PAX at the southern most city far away from Houston-DFW-Austin trifecta proximity brehs.

I'll still go but just an odd decision. What next, El Paso?!

Don't know how many more conferences devs can support, tbh. The year's already super packed. Unless they're only going for local devs...

The entire Texas game dev community is pretty much WTF'ing at this announcement since it's nowhere near any local dev areas like Austin or the Dallas area. :lol

Except... it isn't as far for them. For EA Tiburon/Florida dev houses, they still have to travel an assload of miles to either South or East.

Might as well make six PAXs for North/South West/East and North/South Mid-west at this point.

San Antonio isn't a location rich in game developers like all the other PAX conventions. Sure it's a short trip for developers, all things considered, but San Antonio is a poor choice when compared to Dallas or Austin. Bigger gaming communities in those cities, world renowned game companies, and a ton of independents. I'm guessing PAX received way better convention pricing than either of those locations.

For attendees like you who are traveling out of state anyways I can see why it isn't a big deal but for me and friends in Dallas/Austin who attend for business and have booths, we just just find it funny that they didn't go where the gaming culture/industry is. So close yet so far!

Regarding FL dev houses, they don't really attend anything so it doesn't matter! :lol

I thought it was kind of fucked up that they segregated all the LBGT related groups to a small room separate from the expo floor. I see what they were trying to do (offer a friendly and inexpensive space) but it was mostly empty and depressing to see everyone huddled off into a small corner away from everything.

Which is basically what everyone thought would happen when the idea was first announced.

I wasn't aware of the "Diversity Lounge" going in. I haven't really followed anything Penny Arcade related since I spoke with Jerry/Mike in person and I'm sad to say that they were some of the rudest people I've ever met in the game industry. Robert Khoo is super nice though!

I'd rather it be in SATX. Too much shit is already happening in ATX.

Isn't R. Khoo their manager/PR/marketing dude? Those guys have to be pleasant. If you're saying Khoo isn't fake, that's a nice thing though.

I think there was a time in 2005 or 2006 where I was a little obsesses, and wanted to be BFFs with those two, but now I just kind of hope they learn, grow up, and figure out an alternative skill or two. They are going to have a hard time getting along once their wave crashes.
