What is this "Line" app?
« on: May 03, 2014, 01:31:46 PM »
But more importantly, will it help my game with the ladies?  :smug

Doesn't really seem to be much of a thing (at least to my knowledge) in the US.

Text messaging doesn't let you buy emoticon bundles for a dollar a piece though!

i think hes referring to iMessage, in which case that is not on every phone. External apps like Whatsapp and such allow you to cross-talk from Android/iOS.

It seems to be popular in Japan.  I got on there and every that was added is Japanese or lives over there.  My wife uses it to talk to her sister and her friends all the time.  Nobody else I know has ever heard of it.

Don't worry Art. You're not the only one behind the times when it comes to phones. The most used thing on my phone is the browser I use to visit sites like the bore. I have very few apps on my phone. I have rewards like apps with Starbucks and Dunkin Donuts and the Game Collection app. That's it.

Yeah this it's very , very Japanese. The only reason I have it installed is the girl I was talking about lives in Japan now and she doesnt have 'normal' ims

Yeah, it's the same in Korea. No one texts. It's all Kakao. That's the only time I ever used it, but it was good because I convinced my buddies back home to get it and we could text internationally for free. That being said, Android has hangouts now and I don't really know anyone who uses iOS, BB, or Windows, so I just use that with the few friends that care about data-based texting services.

Yeah, it's the premiere texting-and-games app in Japan. Facebook is coming up, but the emphasis on real-world identity is hobbling them. Both Mixi and Line are totally fine with people making up whatever name they want for themselves.

Don't have many apps myself.  Just some basic stuff.

I use it to talk to a friend here but mostly to annoy J-Bore and my other Japan friends.

It's not so bad, until you start paying for emotes, that's when you need to end yourself

Also PCs are far superior to modal devices.  I dream of a world where everyone is chained to a desk.
