and yes, regarding English opinion on ANYTHING regarding international football - i have had a huge laugh at the double standards floating around from our usual trumpetting mouth pieces.
For a start , the same shower finger wagging other nations, backhanded racism comments, the usual "FOOTBALL IS COMING HOME!" overconfidence has been as hilarious as it ever has been but the whole Rooney thing... good god...
Firstly, the whole "World Class" thing - it's a load of bollocks - as is this idea that you have to "prove" you are a top talent by playing well in FIFAs trumpted up circus once every four years. You must be able to also completely carry a team even if there rest of the players are rubbish. But what gets me is the same pundits who will happily say Rooney is world class are quick to question Suarez, Messi and Ronaldo because "they haven't done it in a world cup" - and by "done it" they mean "been in a team that won it".... but of course, Rooney is world class because ENGLISHMAN LOGIC.
regarding YOU NEED WORLD CLASS PLAYERS and YOU NEED A TEAM - Henry is right and everyone is is a mouthbreathing muppetman. The knee jerk reaction to our performance against Italy is exactly what i hate about the English national team, the manager, the press and the fans.... we played, literally, the best brand of football we have played in over a decade against Italy in terms of attacking flair - but no, England have to rest all our hopes on ONE PLAYER , and this time it was Rooney and whilst we played great attacking wise lets kick up a fuss in the fans and the press and lets move Rooney into the middle where, i seem to be on my own here, i thought he was average at best and sat way too deep.
England need a strong manager and the backing of the FA and a message to the Fans that no one cares what they think and a huge middle finger to the press. Follow the German model, blood the youngsters and build a team and start looking into teams that aren't in the top 4 in England for possible players
