Guess that CBOAT post in the Halo thread was on the money.  :lol

That said :zzz :zzz :zzz I've been out of the series since Reach. Just never did anything for me but the series has kinda been on a decline since Bungie left. And I'm not just talking the games 343 put out. I'm talking the comics, anime and stuff 343 is doing.

I hate expanded universes in games anyway. Whether it's Halo or Mass Effect or whatever. Besides, Bungie made Halo 2 and that game sucked.

Single-player? Yes. Multiplayer? Well that's a matter of debate ( :pacspit @ you )

60 fps as well.

Curious that Microsoft is announcing this waaaaay ahead of schedule though. That makes me optimistic for their E3 announcements.

While I loved Lost Odyssey, making a good sequel wouldn't be cause they're panicking, it wouldn't sell that well to help anyway.

A lot of the Japanese games early in 360 life is why I bought one in the first place. I dint think that 360 would nearly have been as successful early on without the diversity it had in its first few hears if life, despite some individual titles (Blue Dragon) not selling well. This lack of variety is already hurting the xbone, including the price. It is westaboo after westaboo title.

It all falls in line with what we talked about in the sales thread. B games and non mainstream titles used to sustain the early years of consoles before the big guns came out. Even if they only sold 1 million units or so, as is the case with Lost Odyssey, that's still one million users for your platform. Which, early on, counts. And Xbone in particular is lacking any kind of software diversity.

because 343 isn't Bungie, they aren't nearly as talented as Bungie, and Halo 4 gets rid of nearly all the things that made Halo a remarkable shooter in pursuit of making it more generic for some unknown reason.

Perks and Killstreaks, mostly. Killstreaks here are "ordinances" and slightly tweaked. Halo, for the fanbase (and logical reasons) is not Call of Duty. Shoe-horning in CoD-like functions doesn't make the series better. It's like making Quake 3 Arena-style/arena shooters into a third person cover shooter. It's not what I go to that series for.

At the end of the day the reason I did'nt play Halo 4 online is because of the distinguished mentally-challenged and archaic matchmaking. Maybe it made since pack during Halo 2(though I don't remember having problems with it past day 1), but now I hate it. I could'nt simply play what I wanted. I just wanted to play objective(more so just CTF) big team battle and the game wouldn't allow me.

I could play a random assortment of small objective maps which would then mean I was just playing on the same two maps over and over. Oh and maybe I would'nt even be playing CTF.

I could try BTB, but let me tell you it was mostly Slayer that would be voted on.

Till this day I never played CTF on a few of the maps the game shipped with. The big maps that I wanted to play CTF on.

It was horrible and I dropped Halo 4 out of frustration.

343's Frank O'Connor is out there whining about leaks and I'm assuming it's directed towards CBOAT and possibly the Master Chief collection leak as well.

Quote from: Frank O'Connor
"Breaking embargoes is not prophesy. Nor does it require any particular skill or insight. Ultimately [leakers are] taking or being given information and leaking it, illegally and often erroneously," O'Connor said. "People, including nice people with kids and families and stuff, work super hard on this stuff and wake up in the morning to find some of their effort blown up."

I get where he's coming from but he should take a step back and try to understand that handling video games as top-secret information and then sharing it with "embargo" caveats is frankly connter-intuitive. Although the leaks may not be journalist-related (CBOAT seems like an insider) but people outside the company shouldn't be treated as extensions of your marketing department so don't share that shit until you're ready to go public. If you're not sharing it and the leak comes from an insider then clearly you fucked up and hired the wrong people so don't go about airing your dirty laundry.

Crisis semi-averted? If ADS is simply a cosmetic replacement for the standard zoom, it's fine. But it's probably too late for them to drop sprint, since they have to design the maps around it. The spartan abilities killed Reach for me.

Halo 1 has also the PC version bugs plus no dedicated playlist at launch.  They fucked that up, too.

343  :-\

The 2v2 playlist is coming at least. I don't mind them holding out on that until they've got the netcode (?) ironed out, which probably won't take too long. I hope they'll fix the bugs though.

I'm the same. The hardcore fans want nothing to change and for them to simply keep remaking Halo 2 over and over again and call it halo 6,7,8,9, etc. They have that perfect right to want that but things change.

That being said, I'm not a hardcore guy in the sense that halo is the only shooter I play.

The vidoc, full matches, and impressions from top players (Gandhi) all looked and sounded pretty good to me. It's quite a bit different from classic Halo, but it sounds like they're trying to be careful about balancing all of the new abilities to keep the game competitive. As long as map control is still important - which it sounds like it should be, as power weapons are on a set timer ala Halo 1 - then I think it will be fine. One thing that I only saw Gandhi mention is that the aim magnetism seems closer to Halo 1's than any of the sequels, which is great.

Mobility reminds me more of the move from UT to UT 2K4 than COD. Especially since there's penalties to the enhanced movement like no shield regen and startup/recovery frames. UT 2K4 did the same as if you got hit while in a double tap dodge. You'd take additional damage and a rocket/Flak cannon blast/Shock Rifle combo could be an instant kill instead of a buttload of a damage/pushback.

I'm not really seeing the COD comparisons outside of ADS :yeshrug

The dashing stuff and the ground pound seem very similar to cod. The initial promotional video for this and COD AW seem fairly similar.

That being said, the time to kill is very different than COD. Power weapons being on the map is very different than COD. And how the games actually feel when you ads and shoot are still very different even when people use Halo 4 as the example of the codification of Halo.

I think this was just the next step of evolution that multiple big shooters happened to arrive at, at the same time.

You've never been able to choose maps in matchmaking so don't count on that. I can't remember the last console game with a server browser. Killzone 2? Gears 1?
