what is the king of breads
« on: May 31, 2014, 02:27:10 PM »
rather partial to naan (represent) for its ability to be stuffed with various things and as a general eating utensil

also a fan of the ciabatta roll, for ultimate sandwich potential

i feel like i should shout something french out, but baguettes aren't that good and croissants are too greasy tbqh

Nothing beats a good levain.  Naan comes close, but naan is really just a vehicle for delivering other delicious food into your mouth.

Since we're on the topic, what the hell is this current fascination with pretzel buns on everything? They're not that good.

I noticed some on sale when I was shopping for stuff on Memorial Day. Almost bought them until I realized hey, those things don't taste like anything. The concept is great - I love pretzels after all - but it's just failure brehs.

On the other hand, garlic buns are dope :leon

Guys you're gonna have to post pics of these demonic krautbreads
Graubrot (lit grey bread).

Vollkorn, can look very different depending on the grain. This stuff is very filling, as Momo noted. A couple of slices with whatever spread or cold cut of choice is usually enough.

Graubrot is pretty light actually. I used to eat about six slices as a kid before my mom came got from work and made dinner. Vollkorn anything though, yeah - you're not eating a lot of that. It's just impossible.

Rye bread is cool. But pumpernickel? :beli
I don't like it pure either. Hard to swallow sometimes. As the top part of a sandwich though it's great, especially on leberwurst or cheese (solid or cream).
