Why the hell would they spoil the Last of Us when a good chunk will be first time buyers? Lol what morons.

i never beat it but played a good chunk and didn't see a spoiler

Well they played a spoiler warning which led to me not watching their trailer even though I'm probably their perfect target for the game. Either way the done screwed up.

On the bright side, I can hold off on a PS4 purchase for another year.

So basically 2014 has no games and 2015 will be great assuming things don't get delayed which is likely.

Also I'm hyped for uncharted.  2 and 3 were so fucking good.

Well, I guess they had enough time since the Uncharted reboot to string together a (nice looking) model of Drake + one room.  Hard time believing the game is 2015 given that they just fired the entire staff and changed the direction of the game with the U2/TLoU directors.  Figured it'd be 2016.

But hey, 2015 is packed as hell now.  2014 ;_;

Just need TLG & Versus in 2015 as well :P

Hmm, I wonder if the "darker" thing that the Last of Us/U2 guys wanted to bring to Uncharted is killing Drake off and ending the series with a big bang finale so they can move onto Last of Us as their milk IP and begin work on a new IP as well.

I'd be done for a "final" Uncharted game if done right.  Like the characters and could go for an emotional send off.

I mean aside from it being long as hell it was a pretty good conference.

No surprises because I'll say it again, no one in this industry can keep their trap shut, but there was a HUGE amount of genuinely great games on show and that's most important.

No way they kill Drake the fans would rip them apart.

Beside I play Uncharted for dumb 80's movie thrills not doom and gloom.

I hope that's not the avenue they'll be going down.

Thats just Sony being nasty. I notice they like to make digs at Xbox ever since the PS3 was getting beat by the 360. Its not very classy considering Microsoft is always cool towards Sony. Sounds like the company, much like its fans has an complex.

As Oscar said in private, about 5% of the titles appeal to me. I"m fine with that. The ones that do are all coming to pc.

Observations:

1. very very few japanese game offerings. the Japanese industry decimation continues.
2. no man's sky game of the show.
3. between most of the "exclusives" very little reason to pick up a next gen system instead of just getting a gaming pc.
4. sony's conference > microsoft's. Microsoft's conference was gaming death in it embrace of gaming homogeny.
5. Looking at both conferences, there's really nothing for me on consoles. Time for me to pack up and move on. I'm still looking forward to FF15, but right now I'm not seeing any reason to invest in a ps4 to play it.

Today convinced me: my gaming destination the next generation will be Steam and Mobile/Handheld.

liked no man's sky after it left a bad first impression...think I was actually most impressed by batman of all things lol.

bloated conference made MS's look better retroactively tbh. Think Ubi's was best of day.

Eh.

Remakes? Meh.
The Order? Bleh.
Little Big Poopie? It felt like a poor man's DK Tropical whatever the fuck announcement.
Uncharted? Nope.
No Man's Sky? Maaayyyybe on PC.
Grim Fandango? Great game in 1998, glad people will get to try it again.
Bloodborne? Maybe worth a system but 2015 and it seems multiplatform.

Anything else?

Pretty sure Sony is using NeoGAF as a coy hype engine.

Decent show, that boring guy in the middle killed the momentum though.

Will pick up GTA V (skipped the PS3/360 version), The Last of Us (ditto), Driveclub, and any good indie.

I think it's on par with the other boring E3s (most of them).  last year had the console warz thing carrying it.  this year it was assumed that it'd be the first push for "next gen" but that didn't happen.  Nothing is ready.  Everything was a CG trailer or 'please be excited'.  even the Halo 5 beta coming in a few months had a CG trailer.

as a game conference, it was the annual wade through mediocre sludge.

as a sony conference, it was a confession to every accusation that their games are better seen than played.

Nothing Sony showed I really cared about.

I don't give a fuck about Dark Souls, but maybe their new game will play a bit differently.

Didn't really care for GTA5 in the end so unless there's single player DLC I won't care. I'll probably get The Last of Us because I would like to play a better version of it.

I'm kind of failing to remember what else they showed. Don't care about indie games and don't even which ones there were. The entire conference was a blur honestly.

But that's gaming in general. Plenty of games I'll like enough, but nothing that excites me. I like shooting things so I'll enjoy Battlefield and CoD, but those aren't games that I'm going to hold up as my favorites. They just don't make the kind of games I like that much anymore. There's FF15(which dosen't exist) and MGS5, but thats it.

In the end I got a PS4 for multi-platform titles like Battlefield, Batman, and so on. I want to play them of course, but they don't excite me. I dislike PC gaming and it would cost me more or the same to get a PC that could play those games anyway. So I have the PS4 for the convenience of use.

Gaming is'nt dead, because there's plenty of good games coming. Just nothing exciting. It has nothing to do with innovation as I don't even know what that means and my favorite games weren't innovative anyway. Just nothing that personally really excites me. But since consoles are the only platforms providing games I want I'm happy to have one.

My top three games are Shenmue 1/2, Jet Set Radio, and Resident Evil 4. So I have a big thing for games that invent the wheel (Resident Evil 4), or are unique experiences (JSR, Shenmue). I can't help it. I like a couple of the games on display, but they're all on pc.
