Tomb Raider taking the Planet of the Apes naming scheme.

Next title to be called Conquest of the Tomb Raider or Battle for the Tomb Raider.

Both of the precursors to these two games were great, so yeah, I'm down for more.

Did anyone get in on Temple of Osiris? How does it compare to the original?

It’s hard to blame console game publishers for being desperate but, like you, when I see a “Season Pass,” I really feel like they’re planning on bilking early adopters for every penny, only to eventually release a collected edition for less money. It’s frustrating.   :-\

Yeah, I didn't play the Tomb Raider reboot, but I enjoyed guardian of light, so I could see myself grabbing this some time down the road. First one made for a great co-op game with my nephews.

This is on sale right now for $16 or $23 with the season pass.  Gonna pick it up and the original for $5, too.

When I tried this, it ran like shit on the highest settings.  Weird since my laptop should be able to handle it fine.  Dropped it down to high settings and it ran nicely, then froze up after several minutes.   :-\

Anyone planning on grabbing Rise of the Tomb Raider on PS4, just released on October 11th?

Apparently there is extra content.

I'm hoping there's no bullshit added multiplayer. That was garbage that no-one needed. I mean, it was kind of a lark, but they were the only Achievements I couldn't get and my OCD hates that.

I wish I wasn't. I have obsessive/compulsive tendencies; it generally helps with project management because parts of my brain won't let details get dropped or started topics remain unaddressed, but it can hamper me at other times.

i got it on ps4 but only had a chance to play a little bit. seems really fun so far, plays just like the last one but they maybe made it a little bigger. also there is an online mode lol, but it's coop and the trophies are in a separate  list from the main game.

The exclusive content is just the PSVR thing.  The DLC is on PC and XBone too, btw.

The online mode takes place in Croft Manor and actually looks pretty cool.  I have yet to try it.

Well thats what they are made for, my urge was kind of broken by how shitty PSN is and that I have accounts in 3 countries because of it. So all my trophies from the last 10 years are divided...

LOL, no.  That thing is a total gimmick and is the kind of accessory I'd consider when (if?) people make some actual games -not stupid tech demos- for it.

What's your beef with Crystal Dynamics?

I worked for a company that was sub-sub contracted on Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light and they were super shitty to us and then refused to pay us.

I'm sad to hear that. I worked there for a brief time, and many of the GoL team members are friends. Why was your company dealing directly with CD if you were sub-subcontracted? Wouldn't you have dealt with the company which contracted yours?

I kept asking that question the whole time and never got an answer. All I know is we were sub contracted by an Indian company to do the online multiplayer, Crystal Dynamics lied to us repeatedly, gave us incorrect direction which led to withheld milestone payments, put us in shitty hotels, had us ship dev kits home in our own luggage and were just generally unfriendly and unpleasant to deal with. Everyone there was incredibly pompous and up their own ass.

I still enjoy the fact that the Tomb Raider reboot ended up as an Uncharted clone considering how much they *hated* any mention of Uncharted back then.

I'm super sad to hear you had a bad experience dealing with the team in-person. I'm baffled how an Indian company subcontracted back out to an American company; there's no way that structure makes sense.

Indeed it does not. And we kept getting conflicting info from CD and Square Enix Eidos London. The last 3 months my boss cut me personal checks so I could barely get through the month, and I had to work from my apartment with 4 devkits and no money for AC in the middle of the summer. And my gf used one of the weekends we were up at CD to move out on me.

I remember most hating the German programmer and the EP with the lazy eye. I think there was only one programmer who wasn't shitty towards us.

This is the Indian company: http://www.lakshyadigital.com/ they still exist and my employer doesn't.

ok the gameplay seems alright, like the last one but with some open areas with filler content.

but my god this game has more bugs than a Bethesda game on release day. i fell through the floor while trying to climb on a ledge, had to fight wolves that warped in from nowhere, and had Lara climb down and then up ledges over and over, and that was all in the 30 minutes i played today. that's in addition to all the visual glitches I've seen, the 3 crashes I've had, and the terrible, terrible input lag, all from a total of maybe 3 hours of playtime. what the fuck happened here

Game continues to impress, optional tombs so far are a lot of fun, with good rewards not just collectibles.
