Their show on HBO is awesome. Eh.

Are they doing this ironically?

Are they doing this ironically?

Nah. Shane Smith wants a media empire. Getting a TV channel is a goal of his.

Wait, Noisey is a Vice brand? :yuck

I was only familiar with their guitar videos on Youtube so I had no idea.

How am I going to find out about 'fascinating primitive cultures' now? National geographic?  Too respectful.

The last time I had a car smog checked the place had an ancient (as in, publicated pre-1990) National Geographic discussing Kosovo of all things.

I was like  :ohhh, then I remembered this picture and chuckled.

I once went to a dentist office in 2006ish and saw some magazine behind like a couch or something so I pulled it out and it was a Newsweek or Time or something about the Kosovo War.  :lol

At least it wasn't Bosnia.

Bro the site is like noisey.vice.com :lol
I only ever came across them on the Youtube under related videos.

Yeah, not sure how people with critical thinking can still take Vice seriously. From what I've seen, they're either gawking and being exploitative as shit for shock value(South American donkey sex, pretty much all of their African content) or they're reporting on dubious spooky hearsay without actually following it up(easily accessible Russian black market nukes, magic South American zombie drug) and passing it off as new media journalism that the lamestream media doesn't want you to see.

The NYT has its own problems but David Carr shitting all over Vice's MO is one of my favorite things.

If the VICE guys were really trying to do good things for this world they would have smashed David Carr's thumbs for the way he was pounding that space bar.

Noisey is a frustrating outlet. Every once in a while they'll have an interesting article or in depth but most of the time it's pretty dire nigel filth. And they're obsessed with drill rap.

i know several people who write good things for Noisey, but the website is generally such click bait bullshit that it's essentially worthless to keep in my rss feed.  at times just scrolling through the headlines would annoy me

I've only watched two ted talks. One was the paper towel talk, and since then I only use one to dry my hands.

Vice docs are terrible.  Maybe replacing the interviewers with suits might make it less shit filed.

this. their RSS feed is completely worthless but the few great articles they do posts have prevented me from unsubscribing. SEO is the absolute worst.

i do enjoy their documentaries, even if they come off as being exploitative and often times culturally insensitive -- especially anything that fashion week girl touches -- but i find everything i hate about the way they do things to also be a positive. they've at least become an outlet for those certain types who'd never watch Frontline but waste hours watching Vice as if they have something substantial to say, but you know, at least their viewers are becoming culturally aware?
