Drank two 18 year old scotches last night. I don't think I've ever had anything older.

Tbh once they're older than 16-18 they lose a lot of character and just become really smooth. I realize many people think that's ideal but..

This is kind of the consensus amongst the serious whisky drinkers I know.  The same thing happens with wine where wines start to flatten out and just taste old, rather than retaining any essential character.  There are exceptions of course.

Yeah, "smooth" is the best word. As a guy who likes sass in his single-malt, the Laphroaig 30 is not inherently better than the 12, though it is different.

I had a shot of Macallan 45 in a Vegas bar; it was, no joke, $600 (not my purchase) and the waitress honestly tossed it onto the table like it was Wild Turkey. I thought it was going to spill. It was smooth as hell, but not worth $600.

I finalized my moving plans to my new place yesterday!  Cannot wait -- only 6 years old, great neighborhood, 3 minutes away from work and around some great restaurants.  Paying a little more than I pay now, but not much.  500 for an apartment is still not bad!

I love mushrooms too so they're pretty prominent in my spaghetti. My mom would use bell peppers as the predominant vegetable in her spaghetti but I definitely use more mushrooms. Not a lot of onions, but I should probably just buy higher quality onions than I typically do TBH.

One day I'll make my own sauce instead of just buying it.

I make a few different sauces/pastas; bolognese, cacio e pepe, tutto mare, amatriciana etc.

Making a standard marinara is pretty easy though, you can even do it while reading a book or trolling on the internet.

Yea it seems easy and fun but whenever I'm in a spaghetti mode I just automatically buy my ingredients, including a sauce or two. I'll definitely make my own sauce this summer though.

Want to impress a chick? Make some spaghetti brehs. That shit doesn't fail, especially because it always looks more complicated than it is.
