Standing desks: any recommendations?
« on: June 25, 2014, 02:39:40 PM »
I recently moved and lost my built in high counter/bar that I used for a standing desk. I'm also working from home now and sitting at a folding table is not going to cut it for me. There's a lot of options out there in commercial off the shelf standing desks, so I was wondering if any of you Boreans had any recommendations.

In my office we use simple models that you can buy from Ikea or most corporate furniture suppliers. It's just a slab of wood and a motor. They're functional although not particularly pretty.

Those Ikea legs don't go to standing desk height?  Are you a midget?

Guy at our office made his own, with a pull out shelf that he can sit at if he needs to.

Being tall, most standard office equipment sucks, so I've thought about it as well. The simpler the better as well, fucking desks having too many shelves and storage spaces and little to no leg room is  :maf

I still don't think they go that high;  I own 3 of them.

I've never had an issue with the max height. There is plenty of margin for raising it above the suitable working height for a 6" person like myself.

Not a desk recommendation, but to go /with/ your desk, get one of those anti-fatigue mats for your feet. That allowed me to maintain standing at my desk for long stretches, where it had been hard even wearing running shoes (which may have been its own problem).
